If you are in Passau on a sunny day, Das Oberhaus is a lovely option to dine or for quick drink with an amazing view. We were unable to book one of the inside tables for a meal. But still stopped in and were able to sit at an outside table. Unfortunately, we ordered using their efficient app from the standard menu. But some items were unavailable due to the special Easter menu. We asked to switch out the standard waffles and apple sauce dessert for the special Easter item that was similar, and the maitre'd, Mark, complained that we'd already paid. We said we would happily pay the difference. He rushed off. Shortly afterwards, our drinks arrived. We nursed them for a good long while. After around 45 min we tried to get a waiters attention, but to no avail. They were all very busy and working very hard. At around an hour after we ordered, our drinks were finished and a waiter came by to see if we wanted another. They were very confused when we asked if they knew where our food was (not just because of the language barrier). Two separate waiters went to see the maitre'd, we saw them speak to him. Neither came back to us. Mark did not come and speak to us. We waited another 10 minutes being ignored, then finally left, writing off the €30 of food we'd ordered. By the time we got to our hotel, they had credited our entire bill, drinks included. So that was nice. But I would have liked to have tried their food, it looked amazing.

Honest Review - A Feast with a View! I had dinner at DAS OBERHAUS and it was an unforgettable experience. I ordered a hearty mixed meat platter with tender pork tenderloin, flavorful beef, and a unique local sausage. It came with two kinds of potatoes, dumplings, and a generous serving of sauerkraut. Way too much food - but every bite was delicious. I enjoyed a beer, a glass of wine, and two cappuccinos. The service was warm and welcoming, and the location offers one of the best views over Passau. The only small letdown was that the 12-year-old whisky I was looking forward to was unavailable. But that didn't stop me from enjoying every moment - I even took some leftovers with me for my dog, who was just as happy as I was. Highly recommended if you're looking for a true Bavarian food experience in a stunning setting.

The view was the best. Arrived OK, at the begging quite nice. We ordered and delivery was quick. We were outside and the day turned cloudy so we kindly asked if the could open the big umbrella to cover us in case of rain. We were with a 3 months old baby. They never came to open it and they just stated later that they could not open it for security reasons. Started to rain and none came to open the umbrella or to bring us inside when there were many free places. A waitress came and she asked us to pay instead helping us moving inside. We were forced to pay and none from the service helped us to move the dishes and drinks inside, very rude. Later on the food causes me and my girlfriend quite intense stomachache. The schweinbraten was very dry. In general very bad impression for so posh place. Probably it was my experience but staff like this doesn’t deserve any...

Das Oberhaus is a really nice restaurant with stunning views from the patio. The beer selection is amazing since they serve a lot of different Augustiner Bräu beers because they seem to stand in close connection with the brewery. The german food was excellent and really authentic. We had Kässpatzen aswell as Bier-Braten and finished everything since it was so delicious. The waitresses and waiters we're also really nice. Another big benefit of the location is the big castle right next door with an inbuilt museum aswell as the the viewing platform that can be reached by elevator. The restaurant itself can be reached by either car, bus or walking but it's really far up on the mountain. I would recommend driving up to the restaurant by bus and then walk all the way down the mountain since there's a lot to explore around the mountain...
