the castle is very beautiful. However, I think the guide has a problem with French people because the whole tour was just bad looks, or derogatory remarks in front of everyone. We felt ashamed and wanted to leave, but we couldn't leave the tour. It was a very unpleasant moment for us because we thought we were having a good time and in the end we didn't enjoy anything because we were so uncomfortable. What's more, there is no translation apart from English. We were given an explanatory sheet in French, and when we asked for information, he refused to answer us without even listening to our question. We spent the visit fearing every move we made for fear of being singled out for a comment, so we only got half the fun out of the visit, which still cost us a lot of money. I wouldn't do it again - we were very disappointed. On the other hand, the requirement to wear slippers over our shoes to protect the castle floor is an excellent idea. The floors are very well maintained and...

The marble palace has never actually been open any time that we’ve been here, and we usually visit Berlin/Potsdam once a year in the summertime. So we walk around the outside and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous, but then it’s in an area that’s spoiled for gorgeous scenery. I gave it a three because there are always annoying caretakers around who try to tell you what you can and can’t do. For example, the palace is right on a swimming lake and I’ve been told off by the caretakers for walking in a swimsuit from the lake entrance one side of the palace to the lake entrance on the other. We’re talking about a distance of about one block. Most recently I was told off today by a random woman who decided that I was speaking too loudly on the phone (outside in the gardens). Incidentally, the “palace” itself is very small and is more of a wedding venue than a place of cultural importance to explore. But it is...

The Marmorpalais was a royal residence commissioned by King Friedrich Wilhelm II and designed in the early Neoclassical style by the architects Carl von Gontard and Carl Gotthard Langhans (who also designed the Brandenburger Gate). It was the summer palace of the king, who wanted to distance himself from his predecessor, Frederick the great, who preferred Sanssousi palace and a more Barroque and rococo style. As of August 2020, it was unfortunately closed. For me, the most beautiful part of the palace are the frescos with scenes from The Song of the Nibelungs. They would definitely benefit from some...
