Wish I could give 3.5 stars. Beds were comfy and clean rooms. Hotel had a working elevator for easy access to each floor. Going in we knew the 2 (double & single) rooms would have no AC but with moderate temps we didn't think it would be necessary. Each room had a floor fan. Unfortunately by luck we ended up with one of the rooms at the front corner of the hotel with busy traffic and frequent train noise making it impossible to have the window open for any amount of time. Temps in the mid 70s but front room was stuffy and warm due to lack of ability to get fresh air. By far I think one of the least desirable room locations - try to avoid this room. The single room was located at the back of the hotel with large windows and a great view. Only downside was the odd smell in bathroom - just keep door shut. Someone had a large dog on our floor that would occasionally bark. Breakfast (extra cost) was very much like most American hotel continental offerings (minus waffles) with numerous types of breads, meats and cheeses. Staff spoke and understood English very well. I would return during cooler...
Read moreWe made a quick stop to check into the hotel, park our vehicle and head to the seilbahn for our start toward the afternoon Rhine river cruise. The host was very helpful and efficient. She walked us to the off-site parking necessary in locations built long before autos were invented. She instructed us how to access our room after hours and where the train station was that we would find ourselves at later that day. The hotel was an easy walk from the train station on our return and there were several restaurants still open along the way. Next morning we heard the church bells across the street. It was charming rather than annoying and quiet in our room otherwise. Our room was clean w/a bath that was largish by European standards and we appreciated the black out curtains after a late night. We slept late and caught the end of breakfast. She offered to make more and was very gracious. That was when we learned that this is a building that has served as a hotel in the family for 300 years. She made every effort to meet our needs and assist us as she could. We...
Read moreIt is the worst hotel I ever stayed in and we as a family travel a lot! The hotel is dirty, the carpets is dirty, looks like it has never been washed. There is no double bed in the family room as promised, only single beds, the mattresses must be like 50 years old with springs everywhere on the bed, so it's very uncomfortable. There is no coffee/tea facilities in the room, the wifi doesn't work at all, there is just nothing I can compliment about this hotel. The hostess is extremely miserable, I will never come back here. And it's not a cheap hotel, it's as expensive as any business hotel, I definitely learned my lesson to only book business hotels from now one. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone, what a disappointment and nothing like the photos. The family room is the size of a standard room in a...
