We went there with my german husband because of a wedding gift. It is not the first time that I go to a sauna in Germany. In my experience you always have a part or the facility that the people is naked, and a part that not. Because I come from a culture that we are ashamed of being naked in front of strangers in public, I wear my swimming suit, and stayed outside of the sauna, and go to the swimming pool. So did is what I did this time. I put my swimmingsuit and went to a Deckchair in the patio. I did not use any of the sauna part.
While I was there, a guy from the facility called me and told me in front of everyone that 2 people complained with him about me not being naked. I felt horrible and discriminated to be told that people did not want me there as I was, with my bikini. I replied that I don't feel comfortable without cloth and I will not take it off. I also told him that I was planning to stay only outside, in the patio. He told me that I could take my swimming suit off and cover only with my towel while I was there, or leave.
It is ok to explain how it works a place with its own rules to a foreigner. I travelled a lot my whole life and I know that there are cultural differences everywhere. What I really found very rude and insensitive is that I was told in front of everyone that 2 people complained about me wearing something. Being obvious that I was not from there, I would have liked to be warned before I enter the place about the rules, or in case that it is needed, that someone just take me apart and explain me the rules in a polite way. I just starting crying because of the rudeness and the horrible feeling of being kicked out from a place, and left as soon as I could.
It seemed to me that was not the first time that this happened to them. I got the money back from the tickets, but not from the reservation (so we payed 12 euros around for this horrible experience).
I strongly suggest to the company to have it written very clear at the entrance and in the website in English that it is an obligation, not an option, to be naked in the whole establishment. I felt super bad afterwards. Today we wanted to have with my husband a day to relax together, and ended up with me driving one hour back and coming at home, feeling completely humiliated.
Other additional things to consider about the place: Parking place is not enough for the amount of cars. Some of them were staying outside waiting for some other to leave and park.
You have to pay additionally for towels and rope.
If you reserve and spot in advance but cannot go, the reservation is...
Read moreLooking for a relaxing atmosphere? Avoid this place. Unfriendly and rude staff. Not diverse at all and only suitable for locals. They don’t speak English or if they do they get annoyed by doing so! Refund policy doesn’t exist at this place even if they do the mistake for their calculation, it’s your problem apparently and not theirs the lady at the recieption told us. She said you arranged things with my colleague in the morning and this is my shift, so it is not my problem! I have been to several spa places around the globe and this one is a master piece!! This place make people’s (and their own) life so hard by making every single process extremely complicated for no reason. I had a 300€ voucher as a gift but their system doesn’t make sense at all, they ask you to still book a ticket online and pay extra for booking (okay we did it!), then you have to separately call the massage section and book a spot coz that one doesn’t work online (ok we did it but makes no sense!), it turned out there is no free spot for the next three weeks for the massage. So they asked us to rebook the ticket online and pay again (ok!!!), for that we supposed to receive a voucher to get drinks so we happily went to the bar with our voucher and they tell us you can’t use it because the drink prices are not exactly the same as the voucher price!! So the guy had to go and have a 10 min conversation with his manager to fix the issue. At the end a german lady that was also annoyed by the staff attitude told them to fix it and they did it…so apparently they only care if you’re German. The whole system is so ridiculous and unfriendly that I wonder how they...
Read moreDue to the current situation.... Every business is adpating and trying to get the best between security for their customers and improving customer experience. Except Monte Mare -Tegernsee! You have to wait for more than 40 minutes between both entrance doors with 7 other people or outside in the rain ( still not covered... ) The staff cannot tell you how long you have to wait before the next entrance possibility because there is no reservation and people who have booked a 4 hours ticket can stay longer. As result you cannnot ever know when you will be sble to get in. It might even take you a full day for a 2 hours sauna experience.
To be fair I came in summer and everything was ok but in winter you definitely have to improve your system! We came from Munich with the BOB and we will definitely never come back unless you change your system.
Cover the waiting queue for the winter! Less than 7 people in you entrance doors Change your reservation system with a slot time to make sure people who are coming can enter the spa! Remove the online tickets: they are useless because they don't provide any flexibility and you can't guarantee that the customer is entering the sauna. They just...
