This is a world class joint comparable to Nikki Beach in St Tropez but with sadly, a legion of Mr.Bean as waiters.
Someone has spent significant money on the decor of this stunning venue but skipped the most important element, being in the hiring and training of their service staff.
We waited three hours for our food order, despite haranguing our waiter every 30mins.
The three kids on our table of nine, became sulky and famished as our waiter continued to ignore us, not even offering us more drinks in the interim. In three hours he had only managed to serve us one round of drinks.
However, being Ghana, when a white patron arrived with his girlfriend the waiting staff literally fell over themselves to attend to him. In 40 mins, he and his guest had consumed two rounds of drinks and their meal, whilst we continued to be ignored. The colonised minds of the self haters, a subject for an all different conversation and platform.
After two and a half hours, one of the mothers in our group, quite understandably, lost her patience, in defense of her waning child and demanded to speak to management.
Dali or Darling, the manageress did her utmost best to rectify the situation but as in all things, you are only as strong as your weakest link.
After three hours, our food arrived but the imbecilic Jacob, our waiter, true to form, had messed up the order. Thatās when I lost it and marched over to the manageress who was now in the kitchen trying to make things good.
I demanded she come to our table and not only apologise to all, but to explain what the hell was going on with her staff, which she did. Jacob our waiter was summoned and as to be expected, he lied and shifted blame to everyone but himself as he squirmed to extricate himself from the farce that had ensued.
In an effort to rectify the situation our order was rushed through, but sadly, it arrived under cooked and far too late to win us over.
The manageress comped our entire food and drinks bill, and was genuinely apologetic of our experience. I pity her, as sheās a wonderful human being but sadly her staff are going to anchor her and the brand to mediocrity.
Ghana sets a low bar for service delivery and sadly achieves it, SandBox is exemplary of this.
Iām sure it will continue to be on the list of the āmust be seen crowdā who want to floss on social media with pictures of themselves in the beautiful surrounds but for me, I wonāt be rushing here anytime soon to spend my money until thereās a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent there for a second time on 21 Jan 2023, and the ambience was uplifting and exciting. New staff all around and they were very polite and friendly. There is a spacious parking area with professional security to watch over your cars and valuables. And oh.make sure to call ahead to make a reservation to avoid waiting till someone leaves before you are sorted out. Also, avoid wearing flip flops and dressing shabbily to the place. The bouncers will turn u away. And don't try taking any food or beverage in there, u wil be asked to drop them at the reception.
I just have 2 issue. The menu has drastically changed. A lot of my favourite dishes (pasta and vegetarian dishes) on the menu were gone. The chicken wings (appetizer) on the new menu was nice though. I recommend it. The second issue is with the booth near the pool. It was a bit warm to my liking. Perhaps some fans in the booth would help with the circulation of air there.
Overall, my second experience was great. Nice...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFabulous place⦠not so fabulous service⦠Went to Sanbox two nights ago when it re-opened..13 Feb lovely atomosphre and dj.. ā¤ļø ā¦.. however from a safety perspective the stairs are dimly lit and gosh i almost fell a couple of times. Might be worth taping the edge of each steps with reflextive tape or place some lights either along the stairs or at the bottom of each step to avoid a serious trip or someone getting seriously hurt. Also ordered the tapas. After a 25 minute wait we were told some if the items we ordered were out of stock which was dissapointing as waitresses should be updated with stock levels. Eventually when the food arrived it was incredibly cold. Wings and fried squid were semi warm. Chicken khebab, fries, and prawns were very very cold. We all know what happens when you eat cold seafood (prawns). When we drew the waitresses attention, she took the 3 cold dishes back into the kitchen to be microwaved. Gosh- who microwaves fries and prawns.. ??? Utterly...
