Glyfada is one of the picturesque municipalities in the south of Athens known for its lovely beaches, sea-side bars and tavernas with delicious food, and very enjoyable walks on the sea-front. I like it very much in all seasons, whether in winter with rough seas, few brave swimmers and the first flowers, later with families flying kites to call the spring, and in the summer to enjoy swimming; one of the beaches was awarded a special certificate for exceptional cleanness earlier this year (2017). The recently sunken tanker (Sep 10, 2017) caused a lot of damage but I hope and pray we'll see the beaches as lovely as ever next year. Take a tour with me watching the pictures. Last spring, I met a lady there building statues of stones, with no glue, just balancing the stones, saying it was easy and anybody could do it. Read moreGlyfada beach is a series of beaches spread along the coast southeast of Athens. Each of those beaches is numbered and they're set in small bays. You can reach them by tram, bus or self driving with plenty of free parking spaces along them. Most of them are sandy, but some are rocky, specially when you enter the sea. Have in mind all those beaches are free and they come with free umbrellas, lifeguard on duty, benches and shower facilities, and all are rewarded with a blue flag. Not so bad for free, wouldn't you agree ?? For those looking for more organized beaches, there're several paying ones along the same coast, but be prepared for 5-10 Euros for parking and minimum 10 Euros...

in that dress cabin 😅…there is a disgusting pile of pads. 🤢 because there is NO TOILET ON THE BEACH. and it looked like it was always there. And will be there still.

A lot of rubbish on the sand. you say that there is clean water? Yes, it is clean, but it is also clean in other places.
Do not spoil your vacation, go to a paid beach, some of them cost...
