Truly wonderful beach. I hope that it will be preserved as it is now, unbothered, clean, and natural. 🩵 You may find it helpful to know that sometimes it gets super windy! Unfortunately, we were not able to stay on the beach on two days out of six due to the strong Northern winds. However, the sea stayed calm, and it was still nice for a swim.
Some advice for visitors: 1) The beach is not accessible for people with mobility-related disabilities, and older visitors may struggle as well on the way down from the street. 2) Bring closed sea-shoes to protect your feet from the burning hot sand on the climb down. 3) You can snorkel here and see some animals (but please be respectful and watch them from...

My husband said “vertical Beach” I said Google Lens may know and surely it identified it as “Orthi Ammos“. My picture! Back then crystal clear waters, no crowds, no hotels motels maybe some rooms and tavernas scattered along the way. No umbrellas no chaises no showers. You and nature the South Cretan Sea the sand dunes and you. Back then the small number of families were at the right and the nudists were on the left side. This was an experience I will never forget. Read moreI've visited around 30 beaches in Crete and this is my favourite so far.
It's a long, sandy beach with some pepples scattered around for kids to play with and some interesting rock formations with pools on the shoreline. Despite it's size, the beach is uncrowded as there are no sunbeds or toilets, etc.
There's a nudist section on the east side, sand dunes to the rear, the odd bush to shelter in or behind (some have openings so you cam set up camp inside for the day!), and fantastic turquoise water with few waves, so it's great for swimming and young children.
