Taverna akti — Restaurant in Municipality of Sfakia

I dont post reviews very often, but when i do, it is because a place truly deserves it. This place is the best in the neighbourhood. We tried a few other places but always came back to Akti. Why? Because every time we dined here, it was like we were invited to a greek family dinner. The food is amazing. Their moussaka is hands down the best i ever tried. But not only Moussaka, from starters to salads, main courses, seafood, daily dishes, and of course deserts, you can't go wrong with any of it. Everything on their menu is delicious, and the portions are big, like if your grandma cooked for you. Also if you are a coffee person, make sure to stop here for a great monrning coffee, be it a huge cup of hot cappuccino or refreshing glass of frappe, all with a most marvelous views of the turquoise sea and the beach just few steps away. We also appreciated the fact that this place is very kids friendly, there is even corner with a lot of toys, papers and markers for kids to keep them entertained while parents can enjoy their food and drinks :) And last but not least, the people. Excellent food and service, very good prices, a wide selection of dishes and starters, and a fantastic sea view make this place the best taverna I tried in this region. Highly recommended. Prices are below the average in the area, staff is very friendly and helpful. With the starter portion of bread, we were offered a mini salad with goat cheese, tomatoes and spicy peppers. They make super tasty and fresh kalitsounias. The baked feta was perfect, and the main dish of aubergines filled with vegetables and stuffed with feta was the best vegetarian dish we had on the island. We went there for a late lunch, simply everything about the place healed our soul. We have been living in greece for a quite long time and have eaten in a lotttt of places, this is definitely top 2 meals ever. The service was great and we felt very welcomed, the atmosphere was perfect and felt like we came to a friends home, and the food was impeccable - the homemade chicken melted off of the bone and tasted perfect, and the shrimps!!!!
