Taverna Orthi Ammos — Restaurant in Municipality of Sfakia

The experience started off well and we were very happy with the evening, we ordered 2 pizzas and some drinks, we promptly received a basket of bread with cheese (even though we didn't order it). Pizza was nice and freshly made. I asked the waiter upfront if they take payment by card to which he replied they did. When it came to paying, we were charged for the bread basket which we didn't order (ok, no problem, it was tasty, so we let it go, although strange), but then the card declined for some reason and we were immediately accused of not having money and demanded that we show them that we have money. Then again blamed us for not having cash, to which we said we did ask at the beginning if cards were accepted. We kept asking to charge the card again as sometimes the connection to the bank doesn't work, they kept on and on about us not having money. In the end, they reluctantly tried again and the card worked fine (as it has during our whole trip). The staff member smelt of alcohol and cigarrettes. Orthi Ammos Tavern. if there is one place where I have eaten really really bad it is this. We had some stewed lamb and some octopus. The lamb was not reheated well, it was not cooking of the day and it felt, too greasy, and the chips, as a side dish, instead of putting them on a separate plate, they put them on top. I had to remove them all one by one. We come to the octopus. It was already cooked and they heated it with a plate, certainly not clean, because it tasted like another food, perhaps meat. Result, overcooked and with bad taste. I definitely don't recommend it. The place needs a refresh, it looks old and out of date. The staff do theirs. I was about to post this comment then I fell asleep. I wake up during the night with a terrible stomach ache and spend the next day on the toilet. Taverna Orthi Ammos. se c'è un posto dove ho mangiato veramente veramente male è questo. Abbiamo preso dell'agnello stufato e del polpo. L'agnello non era riscaldato bene, non era cucina del giorno e si sentiva, troppo grasso, e le patatine, come contorno, invece di metterle in un piatto a parte, le hanno messe sopra.Ho dovuto togliere tutte una per una. Veniamo al polpo. Era già cotto e l'hanno riscaldato di una piastra, sicuramente non pulita, perché di sentiva gusto di un'altro cibo, forse carne. Risultato, stracotto e con pessimo sapore. Non lo consiglio assolutamente.Il locale ha bisogno di una rinfrescata, appare vecchio e desueto. Il personale fa il suo. Stavo per pubblicare questo commento poi mi sono addormentata. Mi sveglio durante la notte con un terribile male alla pancia e passo tutto il giorno seguente sul WC. Non so se le cose sono collegate, ma non credo alle coincidenze. One star, because I am obliged to post my commentary, but it deserves 0… It is very sad to find non-fresh fish and awful octopuss, just near the see… Bad food for tourists, even the tzatziki was strange… French fries were fried one day ago (at least !). And the service is very long. We were not served at the same time as my wife.

I ask for not paying the part of the bill that we don’t eat because it was to long, and reaction of the manager was to call the police, even if others customers say the same.
