It really is one of the most lovely zoos you're ever gonna see. I've been to many. In many countries. The staff work hard to keep it all up to par, there are many, MANY animals at close proximity, and as a camera lugger, I appreciate the lack of chain link fences or dirty glass between me and my subjects, most of the time.

The only critique I have is that the animals enclosures seem to be a bit overpopulated. I counted 22 "extra" animals in the pen with the two giraffes, for example. By western standards, that is undesirable at best, but, I felt the place delivered more than I've come to expect from a zoo in an economically challenged country in terms of sanitation, healthy looking animals, and great forethought into the layout. It isn't huge, but there's a lot to see, and the highlight for me was the baby animals. Never saw a baby ostrich before the visit here.
