My family and I come out to eat here every time we visit Guatemala. It’s usually a good experience which is why I give 2 stars when it really deserved 0. After ordering the entraña to my surprise it was extremely disappointing. We ordered the 2 pounds of entraña sides of mashed potatoes and fries and I had a lemonade. To not be completely negative the lemonade and fries were okay. Not the best but not bad either. The mashed potatoes were extremely delicious. They gave us the tray with the steak and the top piece was amazing it was exactly what you’d picture the entraña to look and taste like. However unfortunately the following piece did not taste nor look anything like that. Some pieces much more disgusting than the others. I say disgusting because the following two piece were extremely thin and dry. Those pieces tasted so dry and rough as if it had been sitting out for a while and reheated for our consumption. I had never had such a horrible experience. The waiter was kind and helpful however the steak was terrible, especially considering we were paying for a better quality steak and received the worst. When we mentioned it to the manager or person in charge at the time which was around 7:30-8 on Friday, he at first tried to play it off like maybe we were exaggerating and it’s how it is supposed to be, but then after further inspection offered a few free items for our bad experience. We declined because we weren’t looking for free items and we just wanted this to never happen again. Unfortunately some places stop giving great service after awhile maybe out of slacking off or out of saving money but that is how a business falls apart and stops doing well. Hopefully they listened to our advice and go back to better quality.
Read moreWe were visiting and recommended this place and it was okay. The Mollejas are to die for! I think it was our favorite dish from the place. There’s a parking place nearby which is nice since the street parking was busy. We ordered the Ribeye and Costilla sin hueso. We wanted it cooked medium well so they put down 5/8. I asked for the meat to be more cooked because 5/8 was medium rare. If you want medium well, ask for 3/4. It was pretty fatty. IF we ever give this place another try, we would try the lomo or puyazo next time. What was disappointing was the atmosphere. For being pretty pricy, we expect it to be very clean but we saw two cockroaches. One got on our table and another we saw on the wall and asked our server to take care of it. Honestly, that killed our appetite and couldn’t enjoy our food. For the inconvenience, they gave us a piece of chocolate cake, which was good but for how it expensive it is, they should...
Read moreWow! We only got to eat one meal in the Capital but we absolutely made the right pick. We were there at a weird mid/afternoon hour and were surprised that they were full of people even then. After some help from our server, who was very patient and courteous with our broken Spanish, we ordered the (supposedly) smallest portion of their recommended steak - which was still huge! This was absolutely one the best steaks I've ever had. It was served simply with some nice sauteed onions and needed nothing more. Appetizers of sausage, thick tortilla chips and Guacamole were also nice. The owner came over to chat with us, and when he found out it was our first time in his country he brought us some fine Guatemalan rum to try. I am still drooling to think...
