The origin point of river Narmin amarkantak. Best visited by walk. It's a temple spanning a few acres and from a small point originates the mighty river Narmada. There are temples in and around the boundary made of white marble. The floors are also made of marble and have a picturesque beauty. There are several bathing places and at peak season remains quite crowded. There is a big queue to enter the temple. The Narmada originates and flows under the temple before taking a wider course outside the boundary. The whole place itself is a piece of beauty and takes a couple of hours to understand and appreciate the beauty. There are a total of 5 temples inside the boundary. One of them on the place where river Narmada originated. One can collect the holy water in cans. These are available just outside the boundary. A place must visit if one is visiting Amarkantak. Only a few meters of walk from the main city market.

Narmada Kund i.e. the originating point of the holy river Narmada is situated in the hilly town of Amarkantak on the Maikal range of hills within Madhya Pradesh at an altitude of 3438 ft. According to Hindu mythology Narmada is one of the sacred rivers of India. After the river Ganges this river is considered as Goddess mother. Pilgrims take bath in its holy water to wash away their sins.
