Finally we have something strong and rigid near the mighty river Brahmaputra, earlier people of the riverside always had a fear from being washed out by the water of Brahmaputra, now they are fearless and all are happy, Good job done by the authority, it has multiple use- can be used as morning & evening walk, cycling and jogging, the air is so fresh and cool one can sit their for a whole day. But the main role need to play by the public now, government has made the dyke but we need to keep it clean and green, I've noticed people do litter the surroundings with papers, cups, plastic bag-glass-cups-bottles, there have some small dustbins but they are of no use, some of them are damaged and some of them are not in usable condition. ย ย ย Read moreI recently visited Dibrugarh, and was spending time near the Brahmaputra River. The location, which sits right by the river, offers a serene and peaceful environment that truly connects you to nature.
The area is beautifully maintained, with the cool breeze from the river adding to the calm ambiance. The view of the river is absolutely breathtaking, especially during sunset when the sky and water blend in shades of gold and pink. Itโs a perfect spot to relax, reflect, or even take a peaceful walk along the riverbank.
What I loved most was the sense of tranquility. The sound of the flowing river and the open space around you makes it feel like a little escape from the busy world. Itโs not just a place to visit, but a place to experience Dibrugarhโs natural beauty...

It was then that the DTP Dyke was constructed by the Govt. of Assam to protect the Dibrugarh Town in the year 1954-55. Since its first construction in the early 50's, there has been no major maintenance works carried out and it was in a very dilapidated state. The DTP Dyke is very important as it is protecting the Dibrugarh Town, Assam Medical College and its adjoining areas from severe floods. Therefore, the works of raising and strengthening of DTP Dyke for a length of 8.5 km was taken up under Tranche-I by FREMAA, funded by ADB. The works started in 2013-14 and was completed in...
