Our Lady of Good Hope Church, Candolim — Attraction in Goa

A very beautiful church in Candolim. Attended the Konkani mass on Sunday at 8.30 AM.

Very well maintained and a big church and restoration has been done well.

The altar is too good and attractive. The several pictures made of tiles are also done very well. The seating is very well managed and the choir was very good.

Parking is ample for two and four wheelers.

Incidentally I took some pictures after the mass but a lady told me not to take pictures.

I would request the Parish Priest to put a notice like in Vailankanni saying photography not allowed etc as it is very embarrassing for a traveller like us to be told not to take pictures in front of many people. We are just admiring the church and it’s beauty with a sense of gratitude and awe and taking a few pictures for memories and to promote more people to visit the church.

One of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen. Beautifully maintained inside , better than the larger famous churches we saw in old Goa. Some renovations were being done to the exterior when we went. Was very peaceful with hardly any other visitors, when we went at about 10 am on a Thursday . We could sit inside for half an hour peacefully. There are beautiful blue coloured tile paintings on the side walls. All around gold colour painted sculpturing is awesome in the altar and elsewhere inside the church. We will come back here if we come to or near candolim again. Our Lady of Good Hope Church in Candolim is a serene and sacred site worth visiting. Tourists are welcomed inside but only up to a designated point, as guided by the church officials and community members who ensure decorum is maintained. Photography and videography are strictly prohibited inside the church, and it’s advisable for all visitors to respect this rule.
