Special Thanks To The Manager Vishal Who Made Sure We Had An Amazing Time At The Lazy Goose.
Here's What We Had:
A Spicy Tangy Combination Of Smoked Goan Chorizo Sausage With Onions And Spices Served With Poi On The Side. This Dish Here Packs Quite A Good Punch, Loved The Poi And Chorizo Combo. This Goan Classic Is A Definite Must Try Here.
Grilled Chicken Wrapped With Bacon And Is Stuffed With Spinach & Ricotta, Creamy Saffron Gnocchi & Green Tomato Olive Salsa, Now This Was A Beautifully Presented Dish Coming To The Taste This Dish Was An Absolute Delight To Have. The Filling Was Amazing, Spinach And Ricotta Cheese Went Well With The Grilled Chicken. Loved The Creamy Gnocchi As Well. This Is Yet Another Must Try Here.
Grilled Squids Stuffed With Spinach And Ricotta And Is Topped With A Spicy Tomato Sauce On Olive Oil Garlic Spaghetti. Now This Is The First Time That I've Tried A Whole Squid And I Must Say It's Pretty Challenging To Have Them Because They Were Rubbery And Was Difficult To Swallow As Well. The Spaghetti Was Great Though.
Next We Tried The Homemade BBQ Chicken Skewers With Grilled Spinach And Parmesan Sour Cream. This Was Pretty Much Love At First Bite It Was That Good. The Tanginess From The BBQ Sauce Is Balanced Well By That Delicious Parmesan Sour Cream. Also The Pricing For This Dish Was Pretty Good. You Must For Sure Try This Out.
Grilled Fish Fillet Served With A Delicious Clam Sauce, Goan Chorizo Rice And Cauliflower Mash. So Far In Most Restaurants I've Had A Dish Like This Served With Mashed Potatoes And After Trying Out Their Cauliflower Mash I Don't Think I'll Be Going After Mashed Potatoes Anymore. Absolutely Loved The Seasoning Of The Fish It Was Cooked To Perfection. Also The Fish Used In This Dish Depends On The Catch Of The Day. The Clam Sauce Is Something I Really Enjoyed As Well It Went Perfectly Well With The Goan Chorizo Rice.
The Creme Brulee We Had Was Amazing, It Was Literally Gone In 6 Seconds. This Heavenly Dessert Is An Absolute Must Try.
Also Since We Really Loved Having Bebinca At Our Previous Stop We Decided To Try It Again. Bebinca Served With Ice Cream Was Phenomenal. This Combination Is To Die For And Is Obviously Another Must Try...
Read moreWith the serene Nerul river flowing next to it, Lazy Goose stands true to its name and makes for a perfect place to laze around, and to make the experience even more worthwhile, there is delicious food and some amazing drinks on the offer too.
Chef Rohan has literally put his heart and soul in curating a menu that caters to the needs of both the tourists as well as the locals. You can say that Lazy Goose offers comfort food that most people can relate to but with the chef’s personal twists and touches of course.
To begin with, we ordered a cheese fondue which was served with a generous helping of potato wedges and garlic bread bites and it was simply amazing. This dish almost lasted through our entire duration of stay at the restaurant with one extra helping of wedges and I don’t think there could be a better starter than this for a place like Lazy Goose. Overlooking the river, wherein you can feel the water flowing by and a sense of calmness taking you over, a gentle breeze that gushes through your hair, touches your skin and leaves you completely refreshed, this dish makes for a perfect companion.
On the chef’s recommendation, the raw papaya and tender coconut salad was next on my table. Thin slices of raw papaya, tender coconut with some glass noodles, cherry tomatoes and loads of greens tossed in a Thai dressing, this salad had amazing flavours.
You can also try the Thai BBQ Chicken Skewers. These pan-grilled chunks of chicken cooked in BBQ sauce are served with a spicy peanut sauce and make for a perfect starter. I also tried a small portion of Yellow Corn Tacos stuffed with Goan Sausages. It was a true delight and a perfect fusion creation that gives you best of both global and local flavours.
For cocktails, I relied completely on the ever so hospitable staff of Lazy Goose and I think they brought the best of the drinks possible. Lemongrass and Ginger Martini, the Lazy Goose Sling and Spicy Guava Margarita, I loved them all.
After eating all this beautiful food, we were too full to try the main course and I love the fact that it gives me a chance to visit the place again in order to give some more dishes a try as I had a lovely time at Lazy Goose.
If you have been there already, do tell me what has been your most favourite dish and when are you visiting again, and if you haven’t been there yet, you...
Read more📍 Tucked away under the Nerul bridge on the scenic route from Panjim to Candolim, this place felt like a hidden riverside gem and if you know me I don’t use the word hidden gem lightly.
Place has serene views of the Nerul river and mangroves. So peaceful, like the kind of place where time slows down and feel that susegaad goan vibe. Here’s some of the stuff I tried:
• Cocktails
🥃 Whiskey Me Up: A fun, creative twist on the classic whiskey sour. It had warm hints of their in-house infused cinnamon. 🍸 Goan Perpet: This one was peak Goenkarponn with cashew Feni, tamarind, and a little chilli kick. Tangy, spicy, and definitely something you’d repeat.
• Starters - They have boat trips for fishing and catching mud crabs, which adds a unique charm to the whole experience.
🦀 Baby Baked Stuffed Mud Crabs: These were the showstoppers. Sweet, loads of fresh crab meat, lightly spiced with siracha and cooked with different kinds of cheese. 🐽 Chilly Basil Pork Spare Ribs: The ribs had a sweet-spicy masala. Meat was Tender, juicy, just fell off the bone like you see in the reel.
• Mains course 🐟 Stuffed Red Snapper with Recheado Masala: One of their famous whole fish grills straight out of the Nerul river. They marinated it with recheado masala. It was grilled to perfection. 🥩 🍤 Lazy Goose Surf and Turf: This had a soft, perfectly medium rare beef medallion paired with some large tiger prawns, a creamy truffle mash and veges.
• Desserts 🍰 Hazelnut Chocolate Torte had a crunchy, nutty base with rich, smooth chocolate mousse type cake over it. 🧀 New York Cheesecake was a classic, it was creamy, and not overly sweet. Just the right amount of sugar high you need off a great meal.
Overall the place has great food by Chef Rohan Dsouza, stunning views. The place is mix of energy and laid-back vibes on weekends.
