First and foremost, let me tell you about the price of using this service. For two persons, I have been charged rupees 1300 for a round trip. Further, the prices may rise on special occasions like Christmas, New Year etc.. Now, let’s talk about the experience. To be completely honest, I’m not a big fan of ropeways because of its shady working mechanism, yet I think this ropeway is one of the best in terms of quality and management. Everything is brand new and well maintained. There is a continuous security check and proper management system which I liked the most, as it bost you confidence. It has a paid parking lot, where you can park your vehicles overnight if you are staying at McLeodganj. In addition to that, the place is clean and well maintained. Washrooms are clean and a drinking water facility is also available. Waiting area is also good. You need to wait around 10 minutes in order to board. In a cabin, 8 persons are allowed, but they will not allow more than 5-6 persons. The ride is very smooth and it will provide you with great views of the whole Dharamshala city and Dhauladhar mountain ranges. The overall journey is about 15 minutes, and you may find it a bit boring in between, but the views will definitely help to pass your time. In my opinion, the prices are bit on higher side. It could be a little lesser so that everyone can think about using this service. Although it is a bit costly, yet it is a better way to reach McLeodganj than hiring a taxi which might rip your wallet apart. Overall, I definitely recommend you to try this atleast once. I can understand that it might get boring after multiple visit, but for the first timers, it is...
Read moreAfter reaching Dharamshala through the Skyway, I was initially stunned by the service at the bottom station. It felt more like a stranded place in the mountains rather than a well-connected transportation hub. One of the immediate challenges was the lack of transport service outside the station. To reach the taxi stand, which is uphill, you have to walk for about 5 minutes. This can be quite inconvenient, especially if you have luggage or are with elderly or handicapped individuals, or small children.
Adding to the frustration was the discovery that the taxi drivers at the station operate with a fixed rate card, which is exorbitantly expensive. Even for short distances of 1 kilometer, they were quoting rates ranging from Rs 300 to Rs 400. This felt like they were taking advantage of the lack of other transportation options and essentially looting customers.
The bottom line is that the bottom Skyway station is located in a challenging spot with limited transportation options and high prices. It's not recommended for those who may struggle with walking uphill or for families with young children, as the main road is a 10-15 minute walk away. Hopefully, improvements can be made to make this part of the journey more accessible and affordable for all visitors.

Read moreThis is a must do when you are at Dharamshala.. costs 650 for return journey and 425 for a single journey and this is the best way to explore both the places Dharamshala and Mcleodganj markets and otherwise too.. if you are coming from Dharamshala to Mcleodganj then just outside the ropeway station, you get to explore the main market.. in case if you are going to Dharamshala then from the ropeway station you may have to walk down a little to reach the market or you can hire taxis which are available right outside..you may need to bargain though they are expensive and very little do they budge on the amount.. As for the journey in the ropeway it's beautiful to see the valleys and the mountains and is a great experience . My daughter loved it.. Also one piece of advice in case you are travelling on a Monday from Mcleodganj to Dharamshala then the Dharamshala market is closed on the day on that case better to take a return ticket and be seated in the same cabin and come back...in case you get out then you may have to wait upto 30 mins to get back in to the return cabin. When you travel the experience will say it all :)...
