Jaleb Chowk is an Arabic phrase meaning a place for soldiers to assemble. This is first of the four courtyards of Amer Palace, built during Sawai Jai Singh's reign (1693–1743). In this large courtyard, soldiers would hold victory parades upon their return from battle. This would be witnessed by the royals & the women through latticed windows.
