Khereshwar temple — Attraction in Kanpur

Priests of Khereshwar temple, Kamlesh Giri, Virendra Puri, ghat's servants Gopikrishna Agnihotri and Anurag Shukla say that Khereshwar temple is about seven hundred years old. It is believed that Ashwatthama comes here every morning to worship. When the temple opens, special flowers and water are offered here.It is said that in ancient times shepherds used to bring their cows to this place. One day a cow stood on the mound there and some people saw its milk being drawn out. Many times earlier also, the cows could not give milk at home after leaving from here, the truth of which came to light through this incident. After this, when the mound was excavated, a Shivling was found there. For this reason this place was named Khereshwar. ..... खेरेश्वर मंदिर के पुजारी कमलेश गिरि, वीरेंद्र पुरी, घाट के सेवकर्ता गोपीकृष्ण अग्निहोत्री व अनुराग शुक्ला बताते हैं, खेरेश्वर मंदिर करीब सात सौ वर्ष पुराना है। मान्यता है कि अश्वत्थामा प्रतिदिन सुबह यहां पूजन करने आते हैं। मंदिर खुलने पर यहां विशेष पुष्प और जल चढ़ा मिलता है। बताते हैं कि प्राचीनकाल में इस स्थान पर चरवाहे गायें लेकर आते थे। एक दिन एक गाय वहां खेर (टीला) पर खड़ी हुई तो कुछ लोगों ने स्वयं ही उसका दूध निकलता देखा। पहले भी कई बार गायें यहां से जाने के बाद घर में दूध नहीं दे सकीं थी, जिसका सच इस घटना से सामने आया। इसके बाद टीला की खोदाई की गई तो वहां शिवलिंग निकला। इसी वजह से इस स्थान का नाम खेरेश्वर पड़ गया।

The place is truly divine, campus is overall clean and tidy but I suggest people keeping the lake and nearby ganga ghat clean and throwing flowers use of plastic...

Baba sada kripadristi banaye rahe, Khereswar Baba ka aashirwad lekar hamesha aanand k anubhuti hoti hai... paas mein hi Ganga maiya ka aviral swaroop bada hi mohak hai. Kanpur aur aas paas rehne wale logon ke liye ek bahot hi accha get away hai jahan aap daily routine se nikal kar relaxation aur Baba ke Aashirwad ke liye ja sakte hain... Ganga ji ke samip bane bhole Baba ke do prachin Mandir bhi bahot Sukh aur Shanti ki anubhooti dete hain.
