I recently visited the Kerala State Science and Technology Museum and Priyadarshini Planetarium with my kids and family, and it was a fantastic outing for all of us! The museum provided a perfect mix of education and entertainment, with its wide array of scientific exhibits that fascinated both the adults and the children. The Priyadarshini Planetarium was an absolute treat for everyone. The immersive shows captivated my kids, sparking their curiosity about the universe, while the advanced GM-11 starfield projector brought the wonders of the cosmos to life. The multilingual show options (Malayalam and English) were a bonus, making the experience accessible and enjoyable for everyone in our group. However, I do hope visitors and authorities alike take extra care in preserving this wonderful facility. It's important to maintain the cleanliness of the premises and handle the exhibits responsibly to ensure that future generations can continue to benefit from this excellent resource. The staff were courteous and attentive, and the facilities were clean and well-maintained during our visit. Ticket prices were reasonable, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming and family-friendly. Whether you're looking for a fun family day out or an educational experience, this place is highly recommended. It's truly a gem in Thiruvananthapuram!

Kerala Science and Technology Museum is an autonomous institution established by Government of Kerala in 1984. It is an autonomous institution established to inculcate the scientific nature in the minds of the youth to act as a dynamic medium of scientific communication to the public and inculcate a sense of inquiry. Kerala State Science and Technology Museum has around 10 galleries displaying more than 200 exhibits. Each gallery displays exhibits related to a particular area of science. There are separate galleries for electricals, electronics, mechanical, automobile and biomedical engineering. There is a separate gallery for Demography. Also, other galleries include solar energy, mathematics, computer science and space science. There ticket fares for various exhibitions such as planetarium, 3D Show, Science Sphere Show are not too expensive. The rate of adult ticket in Planetarium is 80, and science sphere show is 30, and 3D Show is 30. The show in Planetarium is comparatively good enough to watch. The rest of them were not up to my expectations. The galleries include various installations and experiments based on different scientific principles. This will help the students to understand the concept easily.

The Kerala Science and Technology Museum (KSSTM) has a variety of exhibits covering physics, mathematics, robotics, space exploration, and Indian space research. There are many interesting science activities there. While the concepts and many of the exhibits are interesting, many displays feel outdated and poorly maintained. The 3D show is of low quality and might only appeal to small children. The Sky Theatre is the best part of the visit, offering a great space experience, but even here, the lack of maintenance is noticeable. There is an old building housing electrical, mathematics, and robotics exhibits, but it looks more like a scrap godown than a science museum. The area is full of dust, switches of exhibits don’t work. Ticket Prices: ₹80 for the Sky Theatre ₹30 per item for access to galleries, virtual reality, driving simulator, fountain, and Science on Sphere, sky watch etc. There is also a children’s park with science-based activities, but unfortunately, most of the equipment is rusty and damaged. Confirm the showtimes for the 3D show and Sky Theatre before visiting. Sky Watch & Water Fountain are available only after 6:30 PM. There is a small cafe and a kudumbasri hotel in the compound.

It hindered the overall learning experience, leaving visitors with limited opportunities to engage with the exhibits. Maintenance seemed to be a significant issue, as many displays were in a state of disrepair. Hygiene standards were below par, which was quite concerning. The lack of cleanliness in certain areas detracted from the overall enjoyment of the visit. It's crucial for such establishments to prioritize hygiene to ensure a comfortable and safe environment for all visitors. In summary, while the Kerala Science and Technology Priyadarshani Planetarium has the potential to be an informative and enjoyable destination, the current state of missing items, non-functional exhibits, lack of maintenance, and poor hygiene standards dampened the experience. I hope that the management addresses these concerns to enhance the overall quality of the facility for future visitors.
