Rubaiyat Bar, nestled within the iconic Mascot Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram, offers one of the most refined and relaxed bar experiences in the city. From the moment you step in, the old-world charm of the heritage property blends effortlessly with the subtle sophistication of a modern lounge, creating a serene and tasteful environment that’s ideal for both casual evenings and formal meetings.
The ambience is what truly sets Rubaiyat apart. With its vintage wooden interiors, dim warm lighting, and quiet surroundings, it provides a peaceful escape from the noise and chaos of typical bars. The seating is plush and spacious, allowing for both privacy and comfort. Whether you’re visiting solo, with friends, or for a quiet conversation, the setting is ideal.
The drinks menu is comprehensive, featuring a fine selection of Indian and international spirits, wines, beers, and classic cocktails. Their bartenders are well-trained and happy to customize drinks based on your preferences. I personally enjoyed their whisky sour and signature mojito—both perfectly balanced and served with a touch of flair.
When it comes to food, the bar offers a compact but well-curated menu. The finger foods and bar snacks are prepared fresh, and the taste and quality are consistently good. I’d recommend trying their masala peanuts, chicken tikka platter, and the crispy fried prawns—perfect companions to your drinks.
Service is top-notch. The staff is polite, attentive, and professional, always available without being overbearing. They maintain a respectful tone and ensure guests feel comfortable throughout their visit.
In terms of pricing, Rubaiyat is slightly on the premium side, but it’s justified by the quality of service, ambience, and overall experience. It’s not your usual loud pub or commercial bar—it’s more mature, more elegant, and far more peaceful.
Overall, Rubaiyat Bar is a hidden gem in Trivandrum. If you appreciate class, calm, and good company with your drink, this is the place to be. Perfect for those who enjoy an old-school bar experience with modern...
Read moreCongratulations on topping my list of the most terrible bars in Trivandrum!!!!
Interior are terribly dated, worthy of being scrapped ASAP.
Sofa cushions were worn out so much that the wooden frame under the cushion ends up poking you. My back ached so much. There were plenty of red ants living inside the sofa. I was lucky enough to get 4 ant bites especially one on the tip of my nose & ended up scratching all the time.
Ac was just name sake. poor cooling.
Cutlery used was not only old, but as cheap like the ones you find in local bars.
Food was just average.
Also the entire place was full of police men because of some filthy VIP staying there.
Stay away from this place. Don't spoil your bar experience with this place. Local bars in Trivandrum offer a much better experience. This place is not as good as it seems...
Read moreRubaiyat Bar at Mascot Hotel was just an okay experience overall. For the pricing, I didn’t find it worth it. The interiors were average and nothing special. The bathrooms were poorly maintained, messy, and had a really bad smell, which was quite disappointing.
On the positive side, the staff were good and courteous, which made the visit a little better. But overall, considering the standard expected from a place like this, it definitely needs improvement in...
