Overview & Background
Oberon Mall opened in 2008 (with a formal inauguration in March 2009) and spans about 350,000 sq ft across five floors—including shops and some office spaces—with two basement levels for parking.
A renovation was recently completed in December 2024, enhancing its look and facilities.
What Shoppers Love
Cleanliness & Ambiance
Many visitors appreciate its maintained, premium feel, especially considering its age:
“One of the neatest and spaced out malls I have visited.” “Less crowded than Lulu… you can enjoy slow shopping without rush.”
Family-Friendly & Convenient
Entertainment: It houses a PVR multiplex, said to be Kerala’s first, offering a comfortable movie experience.
Kids’ play area: Highly praised in many reviews and Reddit threads:
“Their children’s play area is so good… everything is baby-proofed with cushiony material.” “Their kids play area is the best for toddlers… I prefer the vibe of Oberon and Forum…”
Shopping & Dining
The mall features a modest mix of retail—reliance brands (Trends, SMART, Footprint, Digital), plus others like Peter England, Funskool, Woodlands, and a premium seafood store, Wild Fish. The food court offers both local and international bites and is noted for being clean, if somewhat limited in variety. Oberon Food Circle (part of the mall) scores around 4.5/5 on Google, particularly for its ambiance and children’s play area—for families especially.
Mellow Crowd
Less hectic than newer giants like Lulu Mall, it offers a more relaxed, enjoyable experience:
“A good mall… not crowded... easily accessible.” “Medium rush and good atmosphere when compared to other nearby malls.”
Areas with Room for Improvement
Parking Woes
Two-wheeler parking can be cramped and is sometimes located in narrow lanes.
Several reviewers mention small capacity and staff coordination issues in parking. On the plus side, parking fees are refundable if you meet a purchase or food bill threshold—generally ₹1,000 for shopping or ₹500 for dining.
Limited Store Variety & Price Sensitivity
Some visitors felt store offerings, especially fashion, were limited and overpriced compared to alternatives elsewhere in Kochi:
“The choices in salwar were pathetic… hugely overpriced.”
A few stores remain closed or underutilized, making the mall feel less bustling.
Mixed Feedback on Attractions
The "scary house" or attraction zones like 12D cinema have been criticized:
“3 short clips of potato quality… hydraulic chairs were not synchronized… staff were really unfriendly.”
The Funzone recharge system sometimes experiences technical delays—viewed negatively by some families.
Summary Table
Strengths Challenges
Clean, well-maintained ambiance Parking limitations & coordination issues Family-friendly: kids’ zone, cinema Fewer shopping choices, some overpriced Less crowded—more relaxed vibe Mixed experiences with certain attractions Helpful parking refunds available Limited appeal compared to larger malls
Final Thoughts
Oberon Mall continues to hold a soft spot in Kochi’s mall landscape. It’s ideal for families or quiet shoppers—especially if you prefer a more relaxed outing without overwhelming crowds. The cinema and play areas are major plus points, while its recent renovation keeps the premises fresh.
On the flip side, if you're seeking high-end shopping or a diverse range of brands, you might find Lulu Mall more rewarding. Do note the parking hassles and that some entertainment zones have...

I visited Oberon Mall recently during my Kochi trip, and overall, I found it to be a decent place to hang out, especially if you’re looking for a quieter mall compared to Lulu.
The mall isn’t as big as Lulu Mall, but it has a good number of stores for casual shopping. You’ll find brands like Max, Pantaloons, Trends, Woodland, and a few small boutiques. It is good if you want to shop for daily wear, footwear, or accessories without too much crowd around you.
Food court and restaurants: The food court is not very large but has a decent variety. You will find KFC, Chicking, Arabian food counters, and a few local options serving Kerala meals, biryani, and snacks. There’s also a Coffee Day and a couple of small cafes if you just want to sit and chat.
Entertainment options: They have a PVR cinema on the top floor, which is good with comfortable seating and clean screens. Watching a movie here is a nice experience as it is usually less crowded compared to bigger malls. There’s also a small gaming area for kids with arcade games and rides to keep them occupied.
Ambience and maintenance: The mall is maintained well. It is clean, air-conditioned, and has enough seating areas on each floor. The decor is simple and nothing too fancy, but it gives a calm and pleasant vibe. The washrooms are clean, and security presence is there at all entry and exit points.
Parking: Parking is convenient. They have a basement parking area with organised entry and exit. Charges are standard, and because the mall isn’t overcrowded, finding parking is never an issue.
Overall vibe: Oberon Mall feels more like a neighbourhood mall rather than a tourist destination mall. It’s ideal if you want to shop for regular items, watch a movie, grab a quick meal, or spend time with friends without facing massive crowds.
Final verdict: If you’re looking for a calm, simple shopping experience in Kochi, Oberon Mall is a good choice. It may not have high-end luxury brands or the huge hypermarkets like Lulu, but it serves its purpose well with a relaxed atmosphere and all basic facilities...
Read moreTitle: Disappointing Managerial Behavior at Oberon Mall
Review: I recently had a disappointing experience at Oberon Mall due to the unacceptable behavior exhibited by the mall manager. As a customer, I believe it is important to voice my concerns in order to improve the overall experience for others.
During my visit, I encountered a situation where I needed assistance from the mall manager. To my surprise, their behavior was nothing short of appalling. The manager displayed a complete lack of professionalism, disregard for customer satisfaction, and an overall dismissive attitude. It was evident that they were disinterested in addressing my concerns or providing any meaningful resolution.
Such behavior is simply unacceptable, especially from someone in a managerial position who should be trained to handle customer issues effectively. As a patron, I expect to be treated with respect and receive assistance when necessary. Unfortunately, the mall manager at Oberon Mall failed to meet these basic expectations.
I believe it is crucial for the management of Oberon Mall to take immediate action and address this issue. Customers should not have to endure such unpleasant encounters, and it reflects poorly on the overall reputation of the mall. Improving the behavior and professionalism of the managerial staff should be a top priority.
I hope that my feedback serves as a wake-up call for the management team at Oberon Mall to reassess their approach towards customer service. Visitors deserve a positive and respectful experience throughout their time at the mall. Until significant improvements are made, I find it difficult to recommend Oberon Mall to others.
I sincerely hope that this complaint highlights the need for change and encourages the necessary steps to rectify the situation. It is my belief that by addressing this issue promptly, Oberon Mall can regain its standing as a reputable establishment committed to customer...
