Thamaramkulangara Ayyappa Temple is a serene and spiritually enriching destination located in the royal city of Tripunithura, Kochi, Kerala. Dedicated to Lord Ayyappa, worshipped here as Dharma Sastha, the temple is steeped in history and cultural significance. The temple showcases classic Kerala-style architecture with its brass-covered Sopanam doors and steps, and copper-roofed sanctum sanctorum. The presence of a huge banyan tree and a well-maintained fresh water pond adds to the tranquil atmosphere. According to local anecdotes, Lord Dharma Sastha of Chamravattom followed one of his priests to Tripunithura, assuming the form of a lizard to travel comfortably. The temple was initially owned by Morakkala Mana and later handed over to the Maharaja of Cochin in the 1930s. The temple has undergone renovations while preserving its original structure. Other notable festivals include Dwaja Prathishta Dinam and...

Other than this, the temple is nice: quiet, calm and peaceful. Main deity is of course Lord Dharmasastha. Sub deities include Ganesh (inside), Devi, Siva (in Linga form), Nagas and Brahmarakshas. The Melshanthi is friendly and...

There is a clean well maintained fresh water pond which spread over more than one third of the total area of the temple. A Nadappura with a traditional flag post adds the beauty of the temple structure. This is the only one temple in Tripunithura with Dharmasastha as main deity. Besides Dharmasastha devotees also worship Lord Ganesha and Bhadrakali along with Nagaraja and Brahmasrakshas. Hope this information helps and overall wonderful experience. Few pics of my recent...
