One thing you must do when you are in Kerala. You should take boat ride in the famous Kerala backwaters. These backwaters are so long they form one of the largest lakes in India called lake Wembanad. You can take boat ride from anywhere I.e. from kumarakom from alleppy etc. We took the boat ride from a spot near kumarakom under the cheepunkal bridge. Here the boat rental is decided on time. We took a boat for 3 hours ride in backwaters for rs.3000. We started at 3pm from under the cheepunkal bridge in a canal formed by the backwaters. The boat traveled at a steady pace through the canal. It was a beautiful boat with cushioned nice chairs. There were beautiful palm trees, lots of greenery and cute little local houses along both banks. Then we entered the great wembanad lake. This lake is so vast you can't see its banks. The waters are calm with beautiful water lilies floating in it. We rode in the lake till an hour, went till the Thanneemukom bund bridge. There were lots of houseboats around in the lake. Beautiful lilies and water birds flying around. Then we turned and traveled past the famous Chinese fishing nets, and entered into another canal from church view point at vechoor. It was 6pm and the sun was setting on the wembanad lake. It was awesome view of the sunset. We took a LOT of photos. After three hours of the beautiful boat ride we came back to where we started. It was a beautiful and memorable boat ride in the Kerala backwaters. A must experience you get in...
