Ā Ā Ā Read morePunnamada happened to us by chance after our initial hotel asked for an unreasonable charge.....and I must thank them for that :-) ||Right from the get go, everything just clicked. The resort offered us a special rate for directly booking with them and gave great inputs on how to plan our Allapuzha stay.||The approach road to the hotel is quite narrow and through a village, but there's a reason, because as soon as you're here, you're literally hugging the lake!||The rooms are exquisitely built and appointed. The exteriors are in the traditional style, down to the raised threshold and double locks. We were really excited about the oh-so-pretty, open to the sky washrooms.||The pool is large enough for laps, the rec centre equipped enough to keep you busy, and the spa... truly rejuvenating with their vast array of treatments. ||The food quality was consistent through most of our stay and catered to every palate. Honestly, I was only disappointed by the Christmas dinner.||A special shout out to Anu who was our point of contact. Anything we needed, she was there, even giving us great trips for the rest of our Kerala vacation. She took the trouble of coming down on her day off to meet us before we left. ||Some things to note: You're in the middle of nature, by a water body. The four poster beds have mosquito nets... please use them. Follow the instructions of the staff and shut the door to your open-to-sky washroom at all times. But don't miss out on the resort for these...

Wait a minute? Did I say that the place only served buffet?
Well no! It wasn't me. It was the main guy at the restaurant who said this. Then we asked for the price. At around 1.4k per head and we were 5. We weren't hungry for a buffet. And hence it sounded stupid to spend 7k for a buffet, when we just need a small meal and be off on our trip. A proud dad of mine felt a bit shy to decline and walk away. So he said, "Let's have the buffet and go". Should definitely start an Instagram page: Silly proud dad's of instagram. He should definitely read that book "Dont say yes when you want to say No". I looked at the guy from the restaurant and said: We can't have the buffet. He said, "Oh wait, I can convert the items from the buffet into a menu and you could decide and order from that menu. LOL. And we had an a la carte meal delivered out of nowhere.
The food wasn't so great. But the view and the ambience compensated for it all. So the moral of the story is, kids: " In a world that's heavily marketed and sold off, make sure you have a word, negotiate, speak up, and if they don't agree, don't be afraid to keep your head held up and walk away. You are only here to please yourself and your people and...
