Built between 1075 and 1100, Javari Temple stands on a high platform. The name Javari is believed to be derived from the one-time owner of the land, because there is no deity bearing this name. कंदरिया महादेव मंदिर के बाद बनने वाले जवारी मंदिर में शिल्प की उत्कृष्टता है। यह मंदिर ३९' लंबा और २१' चौड़ा, यह निंधारप्रासाद, अर्द्धमंडप, मंडप, अंतराल और गर्भगृह से युक्त है। वास्तु और शिल्प के आधार पर इस मंदिर का निर्माणकाल आदिनाथ तथा चतुर्भुज मंदिरों के मध्य (९५०- ९७५ ई.) निर्धारित किया जा सकता है। इसका अलंकृत मकरतोरण और पतला तथा उसुंग मनोरम शिखर इसको वास्तु रत्न बनाया है। इसकी सामान्य योजना तथा रचना शैली दूसरे मंदिरों से इसको अलग करती है। इसके अतिरिक्त दो विलक्षण वास्तु विशेषताओं के कारण यह खजुराहो समूह के मंदिरों में अपना विशिष्ट स्थान रखता है। इस मंदिर की जंघा की उष्णीयसज्जा में कूट- छाद्य शीर्षयुक्त भरणियों और कपोतों का प्रयोग हुआ है, जो गुजरात के मध्यकालीन मंदिरों का एक विशिष्ट लक्षण है। जंघा की निचली पंक्ति की देव- प्रतिमाएँ, ऐसी रथिकाओं में विराजमान है, जिनके वृताकार अर्द्धस्तंभों के किरीटों पर हीरक है और तोरण मेहराबों से अच्छादित है। इस मंदिर की सुर- सुंदरियों का केश विन्यास धम्मिल प्रकार का नहीं है और उनमें से अधिकांश दो लड़ोंवाली मेखलाएँ पहने हैं। इसके शिखर की गवाक्षनुमा चैत्य मेहराबें भारी तथा पेचिदा है। अंत में इसके द्वार की देहली पर निर्मित सरितदेवियाँ गंगा- यमुना नृत्य मुद्रा में प्रतीत होती हैं। मंदिर के गर्भगृह में विष्णु एक पद्यपीठ पर समभंग खड़े हैं। उनका मस्तक तथा चारों हाथ खंडित हैं। वे सामान्य खजुराहो अलंकारों से अलंकृत है। उनकी प्रभाववली के ऊपर ब्रह्मा, विष्णु और शिव की छोटी- छोटी प्रतिमाएँ अंकित की गई है। छत के उद्गमों की रथिकाएँ प्रतिमा विहीन है। पार्श्व रथिकाओं पर युग्म प्रतिमाएँ एवं नारी प्रतिमाएँ हैं। उत्तरी मंडप के उद्गम पर शिव- पार्वती प्रतिमा, अनेक देव तथा गणेश इस रथिका के मुत्तार्ंकण का भाग है। गर्भगृह की छत की रथिका का पूर्वीचंद्र देव युग्म, एक नारी तथा युग्म प्रतिमाओं का अलंकरण किया गया है। चतुर्भुज देवी कुबेर पत्नी के रूप में अंकित है।
