You have to wait a while for average food

N24.85124, E79.92574 Before the COVID-19 epidemic, this restaurant catered for large groups with inside and outside seating. It was run by Dutch owners, who build an Italian wood fired oven for pizzas. The quality of their Italian pizza’s attracted many visitors.

After the COVID-19 epidemic in October 2022, we contacted the restaurant a day earlier if they were ready to accommodate a group of 22 people for a birthday celebration. No problem, said the new Indian owner. At arrival, the new owner informed us that the use of the wood fired oven was too expensive and an electrical oven for only 4 pizzas would be use. Every 15 minutes, 4 baked pizzas were served to the group. Beer and wine are of menu, but available.

This partial delivery was applied to the drinks too. The restaurant manager gave the orders, but couldn’t be bothered by the delivery of his staff. Staff served 4 guest and disappeared for 10 minutes. We discovered that they left the restaurant to buy the drinks somewhere else. We made very clear to the manager to stop playing the boss and start serving the guests, but he was too good for serving guests.

The quality of the pizza’s was average resembling a deep freeze baked in a small electoral oven, but outside seating under the stars compensated a lot. To our surprise, to offset the bad service and waiting time, the restaurant offered a birthday cake with small candles. Very attentive.

In general, serving the group was under par, the pizzas were average but the seating under the stars...

During my recent trip to Khajuraho, I had the pleasure of dining at the Mediterranean Cafe, a charming spot known for its authentic Italian pizza. From the moment I stepped in, I was impressed by the warm and inviting ambiance, reminiscent of a cozy cafe in the heart of Italy.

The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the pizza. Each bite transported me straight to Italy with its perfectly crisp crust, fresh ingredients, and rich, flavorful sauce. The attention to detail and use of high-quality ingredients were evident in every slice. Whether you prefer a classic Margherita or something more adventurous, Mediterranean Cafe’s menu has something to satisfy every palate.

The service was equally commendable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, making excellent recommendations that enhanced our dining experience.

For anyone visiting Khajuraho and craving a taste of authentic Italian pizza, Mediterranean Cafe is a must-visit. It’s a delightful blend of great food, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere. I can’t wait to return on...

Great food, specifically of the South Italian variety. While we did visit this during off season, the food was prepared to order and fresh. The simplicity of Italian cuisine means that the taste and quality of the raw materials cannot be hidden behind spices and condiments. I'm happy to report that the place indeed ensures high quality vegetables and oils, evident from the taste and depth of flavour. My only critisism - the price was high, considering that there are buses and cabs blaring deafeningly loud horns to the point that I had to shout to keep my conversation going. So yes, the atmosphere is as good as a roadside stall. But 10/10 marks...
