I recently had the pleasure of visiting the renowned Mahalaxmi Race Course, and I must say it was an absolutely delightful experience. This iconic racing venue in Mumbai, India, truly lives up to its reputation as one of the finest in the world. Here's why I give it a resounding 5-star rating:

Stunning Ambiance: The moment I stepped onto the grounds of Mahalaxmi Race Course, I was captivated by its grandeur and elegance. The lush greenery, well-maintained tracks, and beautifully landscaped surroundings create a captivating ambiance, perfect for a day filled with excitement.

World-Class Racing: The main attraction, of course, is the horse racing itself. Witnessing these magnificent animals thundering down the tracks with jockeys in vibrant colors is an exhilarating sight. The races are well-organized, and the high level of competition keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Excellent Facilities: Mahalaxmi Race Course offers top-notch facilities for spectators. From the comfortable seating areas to the variety of food and beverage options available, they ensure visitors have a seamless and enjoyable time. The courteous and friendly staff add to the overall experience.

Iconic Events: The racecourse hosts some of the most prestigious horse racing events in the country. Being a part of these iconic races, such as the Indian Derby, is a privilege and a memory to cherish forever.

Cultural and Social Hub: Apart from being a world-class sporting venue, Mahalaxmi Race Course is also a social hub. The diverse crowd, including racing enthusiasts, fashionistas, and families, adds to the vibrant atmosphere. It's a fantastic place to meet people, make new friends, and share a common passion for sports and entertainment.

In conclusion, Mahalaxmi Race Course is a gem in the heart of Mumbai that should not be missed by anyone, whether you are a racing enthusiast or just seeking a memorable day out. Its timeless charm, excellent facilities, and the thrill of horse racing combine to create an unforgettable experience. My favourite place at home Mumbai is a busy city and some even say that Bombay never sleeps, But to my astonishment, this place is like a calm and peaceful centre in the middle of all this chaos There is hardly any place left for going on long walks, cars parked all the time leaving minimal or no space for citizens to walk, simultaneously the places which are free are mostly crowded because of the tourist attraction and excessive population growing in the city. Race course is a rare peaceful place which offers long walks, nature's beauty and serenity at the same time. While you are exercising or running or just strolling on the track, you will spot beautiful horses riding nearby and training with their masters. You become one with nature at this place and peaceful share the space with the animals using the tracks as well. When the sun sets the sky reflects all the beautiful shades of colours and to that view is sometimes breath taking As the field is located next to the sea line(sea shore) there are very few buildings or skyscrapers visible and surrounding the ground. Offering a 2km running track one way, it gives a great place for athletes to train and normal people like us to workout without any space limitation. I love this place and this has been a go to place for many for the past decades.... please visit for a beautiful experience. Also there are no shops or eatery's inside the ground, so no expectations for a picnic....but there is a gorgeous turf club restaurant adjacent to the ground where one can enjoy food and drinks, outside the premises of the...

Best thing in Bombay. Morning run, romantic dinner at gallops, evening walk. Race day during the season. Mahalaxmi race course is something a through Mumbaikar would do. The Mahalaxmi Racecourse is a horse racing track in Mahalaxmi neighbourhood of Mumbai. The track is oval shaped with 2,400 metres (7,900 ft) straight chute, spread over approximately 225 acres (0.91 km2; 0.352 sq mi) of open land in the heart of Mumbai city. It was created out of a marshy land known as Mahalakshmi Flats. Built in 1883 and modelled on the Caulfield Racecourse in Melbourne, it is spread over land facing the sea. The racecourse was originally donated by Sir Cusrow N Wadia and today it is on lease from the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) to Royal Western India Turf Club which runs the racecourse. The Grandstand, off the course, is a designated heritage structure. The racecourse is the only helipad open for civilian use in South Mumbai. You also have concert and events happening there. The land on which the racetrack sits was leased to the Royal Western India Turf Club for 99 years, ending 31 May 2013.[5] Some people feel the land should be converted into a public park.[6] Others are sceptical about the park plan and feel it will become full of slums and encroachments.[7] The state government favours leasing out the racecourse for another 30 years.[1] It is currently leased for Rs 56 lakh/year.[1] The new rates will be Rs 42 crore/year and increase every 5 years.[1]

Go Secretariat go..! Mahalaxmi racecourse reminds me one of my all-time favorite movies, The Secretariat. Have been going to this place since last 6 years and only on the "The Great Indian Kingfisher Derby". It takes place on First Sunday of February every year and has been there for many many decades. The atmosphere is breathtaking and entertainment is in the air. Beer and street food lovers can really have gala time here. There is an entry fee and a mobile permission fee (total approx 400) that you could buy from gate no 5 and gate no 6. The best thing here is legal betting on horse racing. One could bet from 5 Rs until Lakhs of Rs. I suggest unless you understand everything about horses, jockeys, coaches, stables, horse foods, races etc you should bet just for and in ranges of 100 Rs to 500 Rs on each race. Hang out with old timer uncles and aunties while they try to lay their bets. Their experience about the horse races is amazing. Also get to see some cool dudes and trendy dudettes. Mumbai's best cars can be seen here for free. If you have a great day, you could get to see Bollywood celebrities around. For best time spent, do not take your vehicle their. Choose public transport or OLA-Uber. The VIP stands are very expensive or by invitation only.
