Excellent Museum and Facilities, but the Show Needs Improvement**
I recently visited this cultural complex and had a very mixed experience. The site is thoughtfully designed with multiple buildings housing different attractions, each catering to a variety of interests. However, my experience varied significantly depending on which part of the complex I was exploring.
To begin with, I attended a scheduled show in one of the main auditoriums, which, unfortunately, fell short of expectations. The performance was poorly executed, lacking both engaging content and visual appeal. The narrative was slow-paced, and the production quality, particularly the graphics, was underwhelming. Despite what seemed like an attempt at a science-fiction or alien-themed storyline, the show failed to captivate. In fact, I noticed that many attendees were visibly bored—several even fell asleep, myself included. The visual effects felt outdated, and surprisingly, even films like Adipurush seemed to have better graphics in comparison. The auditorium itself was well-maintained, but the show content simply did not do justice to the otherwise impressive infrastructure.
However, the visit was far from a disappointment, thanks to the other building within the complex, which houses the museum, library, and several interactive exhibits. This part of the complex was absolutely outstanding. The museum showcased a rich collection of artifacts and educational displays, thoughtfully curated and presented with a modern and engaging layout. The library was serene, well-stocked, and inviting—perfect for quiet reading or research.
One of the highlights was an animated short film depicting life during the Stone Age. Despite being a simple animation, the storytelling was compelling and informative, and I found it genuinely enjoyable. Additionally, there was a dedicated art hall for children's painting activities, which was vibrant and creatively inspiring—perfect for young visitors and families.
The on-site café also deserves a mention. It offered a comfortable space to relax with a good selection of food and beverages at reasonable prices. The ambiance was peaceful, and the staff were courteous and attentive.
In conclusion, while the main show was a letdown and certainly requires significant improvement in terms of content and production quality, the rest of the complex more than made up for it. The museum, library, and children’s areas were excellent, making the overall visit worthwhile. I recommend visiting primarily for the museum and family-friendly activities and hope to see enhancements to the show in the future to match the high standards set by the...
Read moreWe went to a planetarium for the first time and it is a good planetarium to visit for the first time. There were so many models to see that we didn't get time to view, It is the perfect place for children or adults who have interest in space. Must go if you are in Mumbai.
•Art Gallery (museum)
You can also go to the nearby Art Gallery (free) if you have some interest in art and history. There was information about Harrapan Civilization, life of Jawaharlal Nehru, early humans etc. Sculptures, paintings, real tools, stones etc. on display. We were suggested there to go until the ticket counter of the planetarium starts.
•Sky Theatre (Planetarium)
The sky theatre of the planetarium was just as good as the rest of the planetarium, and many facts of how you can see the sky with naked eye. The AC of the sky theatre will make you feel like you are in space but some people like senior citizens or people with cold or cough might not like it (I caught a cold that day), but the 150 ruppees are worth it (Free for children below 5 years)
•Timings (Planetarium)
The Nehru Planetarium was open on everyday (not on Monday, so don't plan to go here on Monday). It is open from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and is best to visit from June - March. The sky theatre can be listened in Hindi (12:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.), English (3:00 p.m.) and Marathi (1:30 p.m.). Best time to visit is from 12:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. (if you want there late) But please don't too late like at 4:00p.m. because the planetarium closes at 5:00p.m.
I am so glad that I got a chance to visit this planetarium because I really have an interest in Science and space, I came here with a hope to see through a telescope but we didn't really find one there but they told us something like the telescopes are going to be on display out of the planetarium in October, and that it will be free to see through it.
I hope that this review helped you to decide if you want to go to this planetarium if you were planning...
