Last night after some deliberation we decided to go to La Mar, a new place that was a combination of a cafe, fine dine and lounge bar all in one. Contrary to the expectation that it would be congested, it gave the feeling of space, a rare commodity in the city these days, with the cafe outdoors, restaurant indoors and the lounge upstairs, each quite distinct, not impinging on the other. The food like most of the fancy places these days was multi cuisine and modern, portions small yet flavoursome. But what set it apart was the impeccable service, attentive without being intrusive, discreetly forthcoming with suggestions only when asked. My daughter as usual tends to go a little overboard when ordering, and halfway through the meal, realised that she was full with a course yet to come. We asked our server if we could cancel, to which he replied he'd check and see what could be done. A short while later he returned saying that the dish had already been plated, but as another table had also ordered it, he shifted the order there instead. We had ordered a drink that was a little too sweet for our taste, they not only got it promptly replaced with another more to our liking, but had the mixologist come to our table for feedback as well. This attention to detail, took our dinner experience to another level, leaving a sweet taste in our mouth, even though we hadn't opted for dessert as we finished up...
Read moreSo happy to have this new kid on the block. The wonderful service of Rakesh (and a huge shout to Atharva and Kusum as well) set the tone for what was to come. DEEEvine Bone Marrow, and very good grilled octopus (i don't generally like octopus), pork belly burnt ends, superb buff tartare prepared at the table, Yellow Fin tataki, Smoked Mackerel served on crispy puff pastry, and a very delicious Tiramisu (with a twist), was enjoyed with Bee's Knees ( a gin cocktail) and a Whisky Sour. The evening was made even more enjoyable by excellent music ...music that we could actually relate to and sing along with. Was wonderful to walk into a restaurant where everything is spacious and you are not squashed in cheek by jowl with other diners. You might wonder if all of this comes at a huge price. Well, its not averagely priced but I definitely would not call this steep for such a good fine dining experience. I hope the quality of everything shall remain exactly as it is. For a long...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant for a birthday celebration, and unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. The place was unclean, and we were shocked to find cockroaches around the seating area. Cleanliness is a basic expectation, and this fell way short.
The drinks were poorly prepared and lacked quality. The food was average at best — definitely not worth the price. Moreover, there was a clear Swiggy offer that promised one free drink per person, but the manager refused to honor it, claiming no such offer existed, despite it being mentioned on the website. This felt deceptive and unprofessional.
Overall, the service was disappointing, the environment unhygienic, and the value for money just not there. For the price they charge, this place fails to deliver on every front. We do not recommend this restaurant — save your time and money and enjoy elsewhere. I've added the...
