Ankh Michauli: There is a quaint belief that Ankh Michauli (Blind Man's Buff House) was used by Akbar to play hide and seek with the women of his harem. As expected, there is no evidence in support of this view. The secret coffers and deep recesses in its walls lend credence to the idea that it was a treasury for valuable things such as gold and silver coins and secret documents. The building has three rectangular halls of equal size. These halls have a central court and are interconnected by corridors with extremely wide openings. It is believed that while gold coins were stored in the coffers, the silver was kept in bags heaped on the floor. The beams of the ceiling have been beautifully molded into the head of a truncated monster called 'Makar' in Hindu mythology, who is believed to be the guardian of treasures.

This is a pretty simplistic building in the compound. It is said to be the imperial treasury, once housing gold and silver coins, though it is not clear how they would be storing such wealth in such an open structure. It also has the platform of the astronomers. It is partly build in the style of Gujarat temples

In this place Mughals used to keep their treasure i. 3 different rooms which are internally connected with hide and seek secret ways.

Pristinely beautiful and resplendent in her history, which dates back to ages immemorial, Uttar Pradesh Tour in India are, usually, said to be incomplete if your tour itinerary to Uttar Pradesh does not include Tours to Fatehpur Sikri. Standing as a mute witness of the grandeur of the architectural splendor of the Mughals, Fatehpur Sikri stands as a fond remainder of an era gone by. Famous in the annals of history as the once bustling capital of the Mughals, Fatehpur Sikri is today one of the most precious proofs of the rich history and culture of India. Adding a great deal of worth to this already beautiful historic land mark is the Ankh Micholi Treasury, Fatehpur Sikri, one of the leading Monuments in Fatehpur Sikri.

History of the Ankh Micholi Treasury, Fatehpur Sikri

Built as a form of homage to the memory of the memory of the great Sufi saint, Sheikh Salim Chisti, who, it is said, blessed the emperor with an heir to the Mughal throne in India, who was to be later known as Jahangir, Fatehpur Sikri was built in 1571 and stood as the capital of the Mughal empire till the year 1585 when it was abandoned due to what, today is guessed by historians to be a severe water shortage. Today a World Heritage site as listed by UNESCO, the entirety of the complex of Fatehpur Sikri remains one of the most popular tourist attractions of Uttar Pradesh and a definite must include while a trip to the province.

Description of the Ankh Micholi Treasury, Fatehpur Sikri

Often mistakenly thought to be one of the play grounds of Emperor Akbar, the Ankh Micholi Treasury, Fatehpur Sikri is, however, the royal treasury of the Mughals during their reign at their capital city of Fatehpur Sikri. This important monument of Fatehpur Sikri stands on the north western edge of the complex of Fatehpur Sikri, facing the elegant walls of the exclusive Diwan-i-Khas. In this building, the most striking point is the construction of the Astrologer’s Seat, which stands on the South western part of the building. Probably used by an astrologer or by Akbar’s Hindu guru, the Astrologer’s Seat can be easily separated by the other seats of the building by the richness and exclusivity of its structure and construction. The various designs which have been carved to make this seat even more beautiful are reminiscent of the décor used in Buddhist paintings and...
