Lord Ayyappa Temple, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, Located in Vineet Khand, Gomti Nagar, the Lord Ayyappa Temple is one of the most serene and spiritually uplifting places in Lucknow. The temple is built in the architectural style and tradition of the famous Sabarimala Temple of Kerala, dedicated to Lord Ayyappa. Along with the main deity, devotees can also have darshan of Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman, Goddess Kali, Maa Vaishno Devi, Lord Rama, the Navgrahas (Nine Planets), and Naag Devta — making it a divine confluence of deities from various traditions. This temple beautifully represents the blend of North and South Indian culture, with rituals and architecture inspired by Kerala’s heritage. 📍 Location: Vineet Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow (Landmark: Opposite Panchvati Eco Park) 🕙 Timings: Summer (Feb 16 – Oct 31): Morning 6:00 AM – 10:30 AM | Evening 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM (Saturday till 9:00 PM) Winter (Nov 1 – Feb 15): Morning 6:30 AM – 11:00 AM | Evening 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Saturday till 8:30 PM) Highlights: Architecture: Built in the traditional Kerala-style Sabarimala design. Other Shrines: Ganesha, Shiva, Hanuman, Kali, Maa Vaishno Devi, Lord Rama, Navgrah, and Naag Devta. Facilities: The temple has a kitchen and dining hall, and also provides facilities for weddings and traditional ceremonies. An interesting feature is the computerized Prasad system — devotees receive a slip with their name, and the priest offers Prasad to the deity on their behalf. Outside Prasad items are not allowed, maintaining sanctity and discipline. Cultural Significance: Established to preserve and promote South Indian worship traditions and Sabarimala rituals in North India. The temple is exceptionally clean and well-maintained, reflecting great management and devotion. You will not find any litter or disorder within the premises — only peace, devotion, and divine energy. A must-visit place in Lucknow for anyone seeking spirituality, tranquility, and a glimpse of South Indian temple culture in the heart of North India.

Constructed some forty years back, the Ayyapa temple is comparatively new. Temple is in Vineet Khand of Gomti Nagar locality of the city. Situated in front of Panchwati Eco Park, the temple precinct is serene, tidy and drenched with devotional fervour. The temple is dedicated to the warrior God Lord Ayyappa who is believed to be the son of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu (in the incarnation of Mohini). The idol of the deity is housed in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. Adjacent to the central temple is a big and equally important temple of Lord Shiva. In addition to the two, subsidiary temples of "Nav Grah", Lord Ganesha, Lord Ram and Mahakali grace the temple area with their presence. The devotees take up circumambulation on "Pradakshina" encircling the sanctum sanctorum. The inside of the temple looks serious and pious, with tranquillity showering around. The temple compound is very clean and orderly. Entering through a vestibule, a barefoot devotee sees a brass high-mast or "Dhwaj Stambh" and a grand "Peepal" (Ficus religiosa) tree to the left. Devotees used to offer oblation in the form of lighted "Diya". Inside the temple, hanging brass candelabra adds a mystic hue to the whole temple ambience. They look serene when lighted after sunset. The sanctum sanctorum is also lighted with these types of lamps. No electricity is used to illuminate the sanctum sanctorum of the main temple and subsidiary temples. The "Darshan" (auspicious prayers and viewing) in the temple is timed. It opens during morning and evening times with slight seasonal variations. There is an excellent arrangement for shoe keeping and feet washing before entering the temple. The location of the temple significantly contributes to its pious and serene ambience, tranquillity, and, above all, a lot of positivity. It is a place which gives ample soothing things and positive vibes.
