All prayers to Gopinath ji. The temple is old and historic and the diety of Krishna is so adorable that just on beholding it one feels like cuddling Krishna. The temple is quiet old and historic in Vrindavan and situated close to Radha Raman temple in Vrindavan. It would be hardly 400 Mts away from Radha Raman hi Mandir. The story of the diety goes like this Once, the current of the Yamuna cut into her bank and a very beautiful deity of Shri Gopinath was revealed from under the sand. In the morning, when the devotee Paramananda came to the Yamuna to bathe, he found this exceptional deity who stole his heart. He entrusted the service of Shri Gopinath to Shri Madhu Pandita. First, Shri Gopinath resided near Vanshivat, but later on a magnificent new temple was constructed elsewhere and His service and worship continued there. Once, Nityananda Prabhu's wife Jahnava Thakurani came to Vrindavan . As she was having darshan of Shri Radha-Gopinath, she thought that the deity of Radhika was too small and that, if Radhika had been a little taller, the Couple would look much more beautiful. Jahnava Thakurani returned to her residence after beholding the evening ceremony. That night, in a dream, Shri Gopinath asked Jahnava to arrange for a taller deity of Radhika. She received similar instructions from Radhika, and had a deity of Her made that was a more appropriate size for the deity of Gopinath. The book Bhakta Mal describes that at the time of Jahnava Thakurani's disappearance, she revealed her own deity and established herself in it. She instructed the priests to install the deity of her in the chamber of Shri Gopinath. When this deity arrived at the temple of Gopinath in Vrindavan, the priests hesitated to install her along side Shri Gopinath. At that time, Gopinathji Himself instructed the priests, "Do not hesitate. This is My beloved Ananga Manjari. Place her on My left and Radhika on My right." And so it came to be that Jahnava stands on Shri Gopinath's left side and Radhika stands on His right The new temple was reconstructed in 1819 AD after Aurangzeb destroyed the original one. In the evening it gets quiet dark around the temple and there are very dim lights all around. It gives a very old, authentic and divine feeling. So i would recommend darshan early morning or during natural lights . Please encourage with your likes on the review if you have found...

The Sri Radha Gopinath Temple is one of the famous sapta devalaya (seven main temples) of Vrindavan, established by the great Vaishnava saint Shri Madhu Pandit Goswami, a disciple of Shri Gadadhar Pandit, who was a close associate of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
🔹 How Gopinath Came to Vrindavan Once, in Orissa, the Gopinath Deity was worshipped by a devotee named Paramananda Bhattacharya. On the request of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, this Deity was later given to Madhu Pandit Goswami, who brought Him to Vrindavan and installed Him in a beautiful temple for worship.
🔹 The Famous Sweet Rice Pastime One of the most cherished pastimes connected with this temple is known as the “Kshir-chora Gopinath” (the Lord who stole sweet rice). A poor devotee, Madhavendra Puri, once visited this temple. Seeing pots of sweet rice (kheer) being offered to Gopinath, he simply desired in his heart to taste it. Feeling ashamed of having such a thought, he left the temple without asking.
But that night, Gopinath appeared in the pujari’s dream and instructed him: “Take one pot of sweet rice hidden under My dress and give it to My devotee Madhavendra Puri. He desired it, and I have kept it for him.”
Since then, Gopinath became famous as “Kshir-chora Gopinath”, the Lord who lovingly stole sweet rice for His devotee.
🔹 Temple Significance Today, the temple houses the beautiful Deities of Sri Sri Radha Gopinath and is visited daily by thousands of devotees. The atmosphere reminds everyone of Krishna’s mercy and His eagerness to fulfill even the smallest desire of His pure devotees.

Read moreThis temple is a few minutes’ walk from Govindaji’s temple, was founded by Madhu Pandit Goswami, and its marvelous construction reveals a glorious past. Gopinatha, the presiding deity was first installed 5,000 years ago by Vajranabha, Lord Krishna’s grandson, and rediscovered at Vamsi-vata by Paramananda Goswami.
Sri Krishna´s grandson Vajranabha had three deities carved according the descriptions of Krishna given by Parikshit´s mother Uttara. Thousands of years later the same deity of Gopinath was rediscovered at Vamsi Vat in Vrindavan by Gadadhar Pandit´s disciple Paramananda Bhattacharya. Later the seva was taken over by Sri Madhu Pandit, whose samadhi is located in back of the temple premises.
In the hall leading to Radha-Gopinath´s current altar there is a doorway on the right leading down a step into a small temple room. This is the old temple where the original deities of Radha-Gopinath lived before the Mughal invasion when they were moved to Jaipur. Now the deity being worshipped here is ¨Muralidhar Mahaprabhu,¨ a form of Goursundar playing the flute. The temple Gosvami says of the deity, ¨This deity was installed after the Mughal invasion. Mahaprabhu holds the flute, for the sake of the general populace who don’t know about Mahaprabhu´s svarup. His color is golden like Radharani, but he holds the flute to show that he is also Krishna; He is Radha and Krishna in one form.¨
Today the pratibhu or non different replacement deities of Radha-Gopinath reside in a new temple connected to the old one. According to the direct order of Sri Jahnava Thakurani, Gopinath stands with Ananga-manjari to his left, and Radharani to his right. Lalita and Visakha flank them...
