My wife and I recently took a morning cooking class in Ubud, booked through Klook, and overall, it was a delightful experience with a few bumps along the way.

We were told to be ready by 7:35 AM for the morning session that included a market tour. Unfortunately, our driver was 20 minutes late, which set a slightly rocky tone for the day. However, this was soon forgotten once we arrived at the local morning market and were greeted by Sandy, our friendly guide. She led us through the market and provided a fascinating overview of the local ingredients. When we reached the spice section, there was a bit of pressure to make a purchase, which felt a bit overwhelming at first. It wasn’t until later, during the cooking class, that we realized we would actually be using those spices, which made the market visit more meaningful.

After gathering some spices to take home, we headed over to Ketut’s cooking class. Upon arrival, we were met by a group of around 20 participants. Initially, the unfamiliar faces made for a somewhat intimidating atmosphere, and there was a lack of direction on what to expect next. However, once Ketut introduced himself, the energy shifted. His natural charisma and expertise shone through, immediately easing the tension in the room.

When we finally dove into the cooking, everyone relaxed, and the experience became enjoyable. Ketut guided us through various dishes, explaining techniques and ingredients clearly. We learned some valuable cooking skills and ended up with a delicious meal that we were proud to enjoy together.

Overall, the cooking class was a great way to immerse ourselves in local culture and cuisine. Despite the late start and initial awkwardness, the experience was fun and educational. We left with new skills, tasty recipes, and wonderful memories to take home. I would recommend this class to anyone visiting Ubud, but it might help to be prepared for a slightly...

Deserves more than 5 stars. Go and do this.

Ketuts cooking class is wicked fun.

Booked it with no prior research through our accommodation. Transport was punctual and quick. We picked up other passengers and then visited a local market.

At the market, our chef explained about many different local herbs, spices, fruit, and vedge. Obviously you have the option to buy which we did. But we felt no pressure.

The cooking class was very communal, 2 people per station. We were greeted with a complimentary drink. There is free mineral water and other drinks. Our group was around 10 people, all couples. We had around 15 minutes of relax and chit chat to get to know everyone.

The cooking class is great fun. Everyone is provided with their own cooking area. Two per station. The chef was funny, spoke good english, and completely knew his stuff.

They take great care with dietry requirements and are extremely careful not to mix people's food together. With creative ways of ensuring this does not happen.

We cooked Satay chicken and Bumbu Bali curry. It tasted excellent, and I am sure this is their recipe and not my cooking!

Absolutely loved our experience at Ketut Bali Cooking Class! From start to finish, it was an absolute delight. Chef Ketut is not only incredibly skilled, but also has a fantastic sense of humour and a real gift for making everyone feel welcome and engaged. His passion for Balinese cuisine is infectious, and he explained every step with such clarity and enthusiasm that even total beginners felt confident.

The supporting staff were equally amazing—friendly, attentive, and always ready to help without ever being intrusive. The class was very well organised, hands-on, and perfectly suited for all skill levels. Whether you’re a seasoned cook or just starting out, you’ll feel completely included and encouraged throughout.

The dishes we made were delicious, and learning about the ingredients and techniques gave me a whole new appreciation for Balinese food. On top of that, the setting was beautiful and added to the authenticity of the experience.

All in all, a fun, inclusive, and incredibly rewarding activity. I’d highly recommend Ketut Bali Cooking Class to everyone visiting Bali—an absolute highlight...

Attending Ketut’s Bali Cooking School was hands down one of the best experiences of our trip! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and immersed in Balinese culture through food. We prepared an incredible variety of dishes, but the highlights were without a doubt the BBQ tuna kebabs and chicken satay — each bursting with authentic flavours. The peanut sauce deserves its own special mention; rich, perfectly spiced, and so delicious we found ourselves scraping every last drop from the bowl! Yum!!! Ketut’s teaching style is relaxed, fun, and incredibly engaging. Both him and his team (special mention to our Chef Made! He was so funny and engaging) had a great sense of humour and made sure everyone felt involved regardless of their cooking experience. The class was well-organised, hands-on, and filled with laughs and learning. If you’re visiting Bali and love food, this is an absolute must-do. You’ll leave with a full stomach, a happy heart, and a newfound appreciation for Balinese cuisine. Thank you, Ketut, for an unforgettable day! 🙌🍽️🔥

I have never really been into cooking class. However, we have friends visiting and they would like to try so I did a research on a few cooking classes available in the area. I come across this cooking class and I thought it was very reasonable and it offers a free pick up from the hotel. It includes a morning visit to the market. Here are my thoughts, the visit to the morning market is not very useful, the market was pretty much closed by the time we got there (per schedule) and we got shown a few things but not very useful and the guide was very hard to understand and did not provide any context. The cooking class itself however was fun, sometimes, it's a bit OTT but overall, it's enjoyable. We got to have our own station and we cooked a few different dishes and we get to have them too at the end which is awesome. It's a very hands on class and I commend the class on that. It's more than just a show and tell. It's a combination of comedy and cooking classes. I haven't done too many of this to compare but overall, it was a good experience.
