First of all, this was the worst host I have ever encountered!! Not welcoming, used inappropriate language, and was dishonest multiple times.
Beyond that, the room was not well maintained and had cleanliness issues: hair from previous guests, dirty textiles and a broken drying rack in the bathroom that fell on my head when I tried to open it, the mirror in the bedroom was also dirty from previous guests. The host never apologized for the inconvenience and instead attempted to gaslight me into believing the hair was mine—even though I noticed it immediately upon check-in. When I raised my concerns, they didn't take any accountability, saying my standards were “too high” and that the room was fine as it was.
It took 20 hours and 4 conversations on the subject to have someone come and clean the hair from the room.
I booked the staying with an airbnb voucher and unfortuntely airbnb has a no return policy on the used vouchers, so I was not able to get the voucher back and leave for another place. But airbnb did offer support and compensation for what happened at this location. If you still want to book this place I recommend booking trough airbnb instead of booking directly, as they can have your back. I wouldn't risk it with this host.

Read moreEverything seemed fine at first — the rooms were okay, the location was okay, and the staff were polite enough. But the owner is absolutely not okay. We booked for 2.5 weeks and never received any of the “extras” that were advertised, such as a free massage or scooter rental (which are supposedly included for guests staying more than 3 days).
The real problem, however, came at the end. Because my wife had to be hospitalized, we needed to leave a day earlier than planned. I had previously extended our stay by 2 nights directly with the owner (not through a booking portal), but under these circumstances, I had to check out a day sooner. Instead of showing any understanding, the owner completely lost control. He screamed at me, demanded I pay for the unused night, and even threatened to call the police if I didn’t.
The entire time we were there (almost 3 weeks), the hotel was practically empty — which should already be a warning sign. After my experience, I can see why. The views are great and it feels very private as a nice place to relax and unwind after spending the day around Ubud. We rented a car which is difficult in Bali however I recommend using a scooter to get around. The main shared space area is very cozy with a generous amount of space for eating and relaxing.
