You need to climb a steep wooden ladder to the "museum". At the entrance a middle-aged woman in yellow polo-shirt said she was a tour guide. Upon asking she told me the ticket counter is upstairs and the ticket price is 5k. After I went up I saw no one in the ticket counter. The place was dark. There are no English description of the exhibits, and even the descriptions in local language are very brief. The exhibits are cramped inside windows and look like tools of the indigenous people. The museum is small and it seems in less than 5 minutes you will go through every. I have no interest to visit further. At the meantime the "tour guide" was turning on the lights and going behind the desk which seemed to be the ticket counter. I'm very confused about her role as this isn't the way a normal museum operates. Seeing me going she asked me if I can pay her when I even didn't buy a ticket or go further inside. I'm not sure how this place operates. But you can try to pay the tour guide and see what will happen.

If you want to learn about the culture and history of Simalungun, one of sub-ethnic in North Sumatra, Indonesia, you should visit this museum. The museum itself is a rarely found traditional house of Simalungun, and inside you could see and learn about antiques household item of this tribe. It is located in the city center of Pematangsiantar. Almost everyday there's traditional dance workshop, especially for the youth, so you could learn together too despite of your age or background. No ticketing as far as I know, Be there.

Musiumnya masih berbentuk rumah panggung.

Duh mak !! 🙈

Medio Pematang...
