One of the most inspiring things to witness! The hike to ijen crater is very steep and it will take you a good 1.5h to get to the top. The descent into the crater is very challenging since the rocks can be slippery, you have to avoid miners and most of all - THE SULFUR SMOKE! if the cloud of gas catches you and you inhale it, it will burn your airways and you will start to cough, cry and have a lossy nose. I would not recommend this for small children or inexperienced influences trying to get a good photo of the blue flame.

We took group trip so we start at night with bunch others people. Hike is bit hard but that ok, worst part is that a lot of locals smoking cigarettes, trash is everywhere.
We do not go down to see blue flame as was tight and dangerous. After sunrise you mast go down because of group is going down. Locals pay 30k for entry ticket Tourists 150k That part is disgusting, we are charged 5x more and trash is everywhere, you need to smell cigarettes, Never again group trip!
Personally I don't think that was worth visit.
If you want do do it rent a scooter and make that trip...
