Well, the crater itself is amazing and definitely worth going to see. The hike is actually not that difficult compared to other similar hikes in Indonesia. The worst and saddest part of it is ALL THE TRASH along the way. Unbelievable that you are going to see one of natures wonders and then people litter all over it. So much plastic trash everywhere, and even worse is the amount of cigarette butts and empty cigarette boxes everywhere. The majority of the trash is left from the Indonesian guides and asian tourists, at least this is what I was told by the actual local guides who liter the place. Just walking the trail i was continuously dodging second hand cigarette smoke. Constantly had someone smoking in front and behind me. Just unbelievable, im trying to enjoying nature and the fresh air but instead we are looking at plastic and breathing cigarette smoke. And when you finally reach the top, everyone is having a cigarette break. Chain smokers everywhere and have a look at the ground, its one big ash tray. Even all of the tourists who smoke were dropping their cigarette butts on the ground. Unfortunately nothing will ever change here, only maybe if people stopped coming because it too dirty then maybe they will wake up. Halfway up the trail there was a rest area where you could buy a drink or snack. They had 2 trash cans and there was more trash around on the ground than in the trash cans. Lastly, the parking area at the bottom was packed with more than 100 cars at least, after they left there was trash everywhere. People just dump their trash out of the car onto the ground and driveway. Oh, if you are planning to do this trek you now need a medical certificate...lol. Another classic Scam. My hotel told me about this new rule. So technically you are supposed to really see a doctor if the govt is truly concerned about your health. But the hotel said just pay us 50,000 rp and we can get you a perfect healthy medical report without ever seeing or speaking to a doctor.. So to sum up this new rule, no one is concerned about your health. Just another scam to get money out of people for nothing. If they are truly concerned about your health, maybe start by NO CIGARETTE SMOKING. Anyways, its beautiful and amazing to see what nature has created and humans...

This is one of the favorite tourist destinations in Banyuwangi, Ijen Crater. Ijen Crater is a very interesting phenomenon to see. The extraordinary view of this crater is in the form of Blue Fire or Blue Fire.

This crater itself is above 2,368 meters DPL. The 20 km crater which is surrounded by 300-500 meter high caldera walls is ready to make anyone who witnesses amazed. Although this crater seems to attract tourists to get close, you have to be careful. The temperature of the crater reaches 200 degrees Celsius with acidity that can melt clothing and the human body.

Ijen Crater is actually located in Banyuwangi and Bondowoso. The fire below the crater is blue and looks even more beautiful when the surrounding conditions are dark. For that, you have to come in the early morning so you can see the beauty of the Blue Fire.

Ijen Crater is a crater from Mount Ijen which has a beautiful panorama and can be visited as a tourist attraction in the mountains. The scenery offered will provide its own tranquility for tourists. Although basically tourists need to climb with difficulty, but when they are at their peak there will be amazing views that may not be in other mountain craters.

One of the advantages of Ijen Crater is the view of Blue Fire. Blue Fire itself is a view of the blue fire from sulfur in Ijen Crater which is said to have only 2 in the world. Blue Fire can only be seen when it's dark, aka night. This is the unique side of Mount Ijen, where tourists who want to see the Blue Fire have to climb from midnight so as not to lose the sight.

In addition, the ijen crater itself has a beautiful panorama, with water in a crater similar to the Ciwidey Crater Bandung, which is a Tosca color with white cliff edges. When the morning comes, tourists can also hunt beautiful sunrise and it's a pity to miss it.

Because it is a mountain tour, the temperature in Banyuwangi Tourism Site is very cold. Especially at night when climbing. The temperature can be up to 2 degrees Celsius. Therefore, tourists must remain active in climbing. During climbing, the stars and sky will look brighter so that they will definitely be able to provide new experiences for tourists who...

Genuinely a horrible experience. I'm sure at one point this was an incredible thing to do, when there weren't many tourists doing it. However now it is insane. There should be a maximum per day of maybe 100-200 tourists allowed down into the crater. Instead they allowed more like 500-700. The path down to the crater is so narrow and it's slow to go down, but that's okay, it's only when you reach the bottom that you realise how dangerous this trip is. People are piling down to the bottom to see the famous blue flames, leaving it difficult for people to start to leave, it's so crowded down there that it gets dangerous, then when you try to go up to get out of the way, which would make it more safe, the path is so narrow that you can't move due the massive never ending line of people heading down, people get crushed and stuck against the rocks, the guides are completely useless, they're so desperate to make sure that their group sees the flames before sunrise that they keep telling everyone to push down and tell the people going up to wait, but it's full at the bottom so the only way to get people down there is to allow the ones that have finished to leave and get out of the way. We got stuck against a rock for maybe 20/25 minutes all getting crushed together as people couldn't move at all, it was like a film. People were panicking and starting to push and freak out a bit and try to find their own route that wasn't the path, especially when the sulphur smoke got thick. It is the most poorly organised and dangerous thing I've seen in all of my travels and I'm pretty scared that people will get seriously hurt there soon. To be honest, myself and everyone I spoke to agreed it wasn't worth it. The worst thing about the whole experience is that the guys who work in that crater, the sulphur miners, still need to go up and down the path carrying their 90kg baskets of rock, and our tourism has made their job much, much more difficult. It was crazy and it's one of the few places i've travelled too that I would really encourage people to avoid, doubly so if you are claustrophobic. The walk to and the view from the top is beautiful, just...
