We visited Balangan Beach during the late morning/early afternoon when the tide was quite low. We were greeted with a scenic view, giving us fantastic photo opportunities. The water was very clear, making it appear quite blue in the deeper parts. However, the sand was quite coarse and stepping in it made our feet sink, making it rather difficult to walk. Since the tide was out, a large stretch of the beach was just a rocky floor, making the (barefoot) walk out into the water painful. Aside from that, the rest of the time we spent there was enjoyable. There were a number of surfers out catching some waves, which looked perfect for surfing. We had food and drinks at a little café overlooking the beach, which was reasonably priced and quite tasty.
