Our visit to Kubu Beach was, unfortunately, a major disappointment, despite the friendly efforts of the staff. Upon arrival, we found the entrance disorganized, with no staff to greet or guide us. We were unaware that we needed to take an elevator to access the beach, which added to the confusion. The only initial highlight was the playful monkeys roaming near the entrance, which provided a brief moment of fun and an interesting touch to the experience. We had high hopes for our pre-booked beach picnic, but it was far from enjoyable. The picnic area was overwhelmed by insects—flies, ants, and other small critters were crawling everywhere, making it nearly impossible to sit comfortably or relax. While we understand that insects are part of an outdoor setting, the sheer volume was overwhelming and detracted from any chance of enjoying the moment. The food itself was presented in an average manner and arrived covered to prevent flies from getting in, which we appreciated. However, the experience quickly deteriorated when we opened the lids. The two glasses of sparkling wine we were served had noticeable lipstick marks and small cracks, clearly indicating they hadn’t been properly cleaned. Even worse, we found two long hairs in one of the dishes, which was highly off-putting. The final blow came when a swarm of flies descended on our food as soon as we uncovered it. There were no fans or any measures in place to keep the insects at bay, which completely killed our appetite and left us feeling nauseated. We ended up leaving much earlier than planned, unable to enjoy the meal or the setting. The weather didn’t help either—it was overcast, so we missed out on the promised sunset views. The beach itself was underwhelming and not particularly comfortable or inviting. We noticed other visitors seemed to feel the same, as many only stayed for a few minutes before leaving. The reality of Kubu Beach didn’t come close to matching the polished images in advertisements or hotel descriptions, and we felt misled by the hype. On a positive note, the staff were a bright spot in an otherwise poor experience. They were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and clearly dedicated to their work. When they noticed our dissatisfaction, they went out of their way to apologize and offer compensation, which showed genuine care and professionalism. We sincerely appreciate their efforts to make things right, but unfortunately, the unpleasant environment and subpar picnic setup were beyond their control. Their kindness and proactive approach to addressing our concerns were the only redeeming aspects of the visit. In summary, Kubu Beach fell short of expectations. The insect-infested picnic, unclean glassware, and lackluster beach made it an experience we wouldn’t recommend. The staff’s warmth and efforts to compensate were commendable, but they couldn’t overcome the environmental and service issues. Save your time and explore other beaches in Bali instead—don’t be swayed by the misleading...
Read moreKubu Beach is not just a beach; it is the crown jewel of the Ayana Resort and a destination in itself. Accessible via a scenic funicular railway that descends the dramatic limestone cliffs, the journey builds anticipation for the stunning cove that awaits below.
This private beach is the epitome of a tropical paradise. Unlike the long, sprawling beaches of southern Bali, Kubu is a small, perfect crescent of white sand, impeccably clean and sheltered by towering cliffs. The water is a breathtaking shade of turquoise, though swimming can be limited due to often strong waves and currents, making it more ideal for wading and sunbathing.
The real magic lies in its atmosphere. The combination of the powerful sound of the waves crashing against the shore and the stunning natural scenery creates a profound sense of tranquility and awe. It feels exclusive and secluded, a world away from the bustle of the island.
The amenities are superb. Comfortable, iconic circular daybeds and sun loungers are perfectly positioned for relaxation and photography. The attentive beach attendants are on hand to ensure your comfort, and the nearby Warung Kubu offers light bites and refreshing drinks to enjoy with the unparalleled view.
While not always suitable for a vigorous swim, Kubu Beach is an absolute must-visit for its sheer beauty, dramatic setting, and serene ambiance. It is the perfect spot to spend an afternoon reading a book, listening to the ocean, and watching the light change on the water. It is, without a doubt, one of the most uniquely beautiful and memorable beach...
Read moreKubu Beach is serenely beautiful and peaceful. Beibg part of Ayana Resort's private beach, you will need to access the beach via the Resort's tram service. The tram service will drop you off at the Beach station (atop the cliff) with clear view of the beach front. The escalator is provided to bring you down safely to the beach. There are several flights of stone stairs that you would need to take to reach to the beach area - which may be challenging for some with mobility restrictions and/or baby's pram. The private beach provides a less crowded beach front relaxation venue for a fun day under the sun with your family or just a very quiet peaceful lounging day by the beach.
The Resort's services extend to the Beach, where services such as hair braiding, temporary tattoos and massages will be available along with several choices of food and beverages to cater to guests who will be lounging on the rows of day beds. The shades above the day beds would provide temporary shelter for light shower but will not recommend visiting the beach if heavy rain and/or thunderstorm is approaching. The beach itself features white, soft sands with rocky terrains and waves crashing unto the rocks for therapeutic sounds.
It is definitely one of the highlight of Ayana Resort and a definite must-visit place when you are staying...
