I would like to leave an honest review about my experience visiting the Ayana property as a non-hotel guest.
I planned a farewell dinner in Bali for my dear parents at Rock Café, but unfortunately, we couldn’t go there due to rain. Keep weather conditions in mind when planning your visit.
We were offered to stay at the Sami Sami restaurant, which my family accepted.
After taking over 1,000 photos of the hotel’s beautiful grounds, my phone unexpectedly ran out of battery. Since I pay for everything using QR codes, which is typically not an issue in Bali, I asked the staff for a charger. However, they informed me that there was no charger available, and none of the staff in the hotel had one either. Despite seeing the situation I was in, they gave me an ultimatum: either pay immediately or cancel the order that had already been served and placed on the table in front of my parents.
This put me in a stressful and helpless situation. Fortunately, I happened to have a spare physical card with me, which had enough funds to cover the bill.
After this incident, the dinner itself felt tasteless. Once we finished, I went to the reception desk, where I was able to charge my phone without any issue, so I could plan my route to leave the place and never...
Read moreDined at Sami Sami, the clifftop trattoria-style gem at AYANA, and it was a truly memorable experience. We tried two different set menus, and every course was beautifully crafted, balancing rich Italian flavors with a refined, modern touch.
Menu A started with a vibrant Insalata di verdure — fresh, crunchy greens with a lovely nutty finish. The Pizza Diavola was indulgent and bold, with just the right amount of heat and smoky depth. The Blueberry Panna Cotta was the perfect finale — delicate, fruity, and refreshingly light.
Menu B was equally impressive. The Arancini di Riso were golden and crispy on the outside, rich and savory on the inside, complemented by a citrusy fennel salad. The Petto di Pollo agli Agrumi was incredibly tender, with a bright herbaceous sauce and smooth pumpkin purée. We ended with the Chocolate Salted Caramel Mousse — decadent, balanced, and plated beautifully.
Service was warm, attentive, and seamless throughout — a true reflection of AYANA’s signature hospitality. The clifftop setting added a magical touch, with sweeping ocean views and a calm breeze that made the evening feel even more special.
An elegant, elevated take on Italian dining in Bali. Would...
Read moreSami Sami is an upmarket Italian restaurant in the Ayana resort. Sami sits right on the edge of a cliff, overlooking the Indian Ocean. Book a table and ask to be seated right on one of the end tables. You won't regret the beautiful sunset views and photo opportunities. Tonight was my 6th visit (first dining solo), and my waiter, Darma, looked after me. I ordered drinks, an entree and a main dish. Darma swapped over the complimentary bread and dipping oil to bread and butter. Bread is fresh and I'd happily eat baskets of that! My arancini balls with an orange salad was tasty - the arancini's full of cheesy filling. My cannelloni main dish was so big I couldn't eat it all. Again, such a tasty meal in itself. Well priced dishes, attentive staff (Darma was such an excellent server and full of information about the local area, including the new Saka museum) and a view that money can't buy. If you're not into the nightclub feel of nearby Rock Bar and looking for a more family friendly or romantic meal, come to Sami Sami. You won't be...
