Located in the Chinatown area of Semarang, Semawis Night Market was originally a market that was held for 3 days before Chinese New Year (after inauguration of Chinese New Year as a national public holiday by Abdurrahman Wahid President). One year later, due to large number of enthusiasts this event was held not only annually but weekly; that is every weekend (Friday - Sunday) from 6 to 11pm.
The culinary offered there is very diverse; ranging from contemporary street food, such as grilled squid, Korean food, egg rolls, to traditional foods from Semarang and its surroundings, all are available. This time I tried Plenet Banana (Semarang culinary) with chocolate cheese topping and Jun Herbal Drink with warm spices (typical of Demak). Unique! . . . . . #semawis #semawissemarang #semawispecinan #semarang #kotasemarang #centraljava #java #jawa #explorejateng #wisatajateng #dolansemarang #visitsemarang #exploresemarang #beautiful #indotraveller #travel #travelphotography #travelblogger #travelling #travelgram #traveling...

Therefore, every time I visit this place, I feel nothing special about Semawis anymore, I can't feel what I feel back when I was a kid.
Plus : Many food tenants, low-budget to costy meals are offered here. Minus : The parking lot is so limited, you have to be here by 17.30 in order to be able to park your car, usually very crowded so keeo an eye on...
Read moreOpens every Friday to Sunday night, this place have so much food stalls. From traditional, local, to international food, from snacks to heavy meal, you can have it all from this night market. It's almost always crowded, tho, so if you want to have a good seat and table yo have to go earlier. If its raining you need to brin your own umbrella, but it tends to be not as crowded as usual since it was on an open road without roof. I'll list some of the food stalls I remember : zuppa soup and chicken porridge, soto, bakso, gudeg, nasi ayam (the regular and hainan too), es congliek (the legendary one), fruit salad, giant grilled/fried squid, taiwanese chicken, crepes, satay, fried dumplings, juices, fried chicken, fried rice, Korean street foods, rolled sushi, iced tea, round waffle, and...
