As someone who worked in this museum one summer, 1993,may I encourage all my fellow Arklownians to revisit this gem of Local History.New modern layout still uncovered some fascinating titbits of information for me . I took my relatives from The Hebrides and they were fascinated by our mutual seafaring traditions. They so appreciated that the young Guide took time to allow for their questions and Facilitated their Observations on Their Traditions....He was Knowledgeable and Patient and to me made things that I akreafy knew about the town so fresh and Interesting He was a" Natural" tour Leader,I believe his name was Dirmuid? My relatives went off with knitting patterns for the Atklow gansey to compare with The Benbecila one, same seafaring tradition= none of them Chose to Swim as it was" God's Will"....... My only disappointment was that the books purchased had not been signed by Mr Jim Rees himself...I believe there is a real o opportunity here for Arklow to make contact with th Hebrideam Communities here, after all we ar all Vikings are wr not? Best Wishes, Murdina , whose name in Dcits Gaelic means ,...

For anyone visiting Arklow, or passing through like us, the maritime museum is well worth the visit; we would highly...
