Good, fast, polite check in, nice room, recently updated, a couple of the holes in the ceiling the only down to the room, apart from that very clean and very comfortable. Needed to ask for slippers and arrived very promptly. Visited the bar and staff behind bar totally ignored myself and my wife for such a long time I was ready to walk. They served a large number of others who arrived after us into a fairly empty bar even though we were certainly seen sitting at the bar waiting for a long time. When I asked could I please be served I was told in a very unpleasant short manner 'I was coming to you', He obvious wasn't, put a real bummer on the start of my stay here. Mood totally spoiled, bravo Arklow Bay it takes a deliberate effort to make a guest feel treated so abysmally so fast....I would bet im not the first he has done this too nor be the last as it's probably going unchecked.....for some reason... Not 4 star bar staff. Breakfast very very good, all the usual items expected in a buffet and all very fresh and tasty big plus is there's also a menu with other exceptional breakfast choices that cover all diets, staff really professional and polite and were under pressure from a large group that appeared all at once but they stayed calm and professional and dealt with them efficiently while still catering for the other guests.. better than a 4 star breakfast...it's a definite 4.5 breakfast Maintenance man wishing guests and colleagues a good morning as they passed, showing there is a team thing happening here, I like that a lot.

I look for a few key things in a hotel - clean rooms, comfortable bed, strong hot shower and a quiet nights sleep. For Arklow Bay, one out of four isn't bad. Rooms are clean. But they're tired, chips everywhere, stained carpets, curtains that don't block the light, and a bed like concrete. The shower pressure is awful and looks like it hasn't been changed since the late 80s. Fire alarms in the middle of the night whilst ambivalent staff sit about. Kids running up and down the corridor at night whilst staff refuse to intervene. Service in the restaurant is sluggish, tip just order and pay at the bar, it's far quicker. The few staff that are on can't cope with demand, it's been 45 mins before I can order and receive a drink. The breakfast service is decent if a bit old fashioned. For the price of a room, difficult to recommend. Shame given the great location.

We had our small, intimate wedding here. The Arklow Bay hotel and all the staff were amazing. To plan our wedding we met Danté, Jennifer and Shauna and each was extremely nice and couldn't do enough for us. Everything we wanted was provided for, and any request we had was taken on board. None of our wedding was dictated to us, it was the perfect wedding for us, and we couldn't have asked for any more. All our guests thoroughly enjoyed the setting too. The decorations were fantastic and exceeded our expectations. Everybody raved about the Caesar salad and was stuffed after the meal. We had some vegans at our meal too, and they said the vegan cheesecake for desert was the best they've ever had. We had no complaints and will be back again to stay for our anniversary, we're just hoping the Caesar salad is still on the menu.

I have so much much I could say about how bad mine and my family's experience was at this Hotel but I would be writing for days it was that bad. The room was tiny, dated and had no net curtains on the windows so if you wanted to let any air in you had no privacy, tiles were also cracked in the bathroom and the cleaners had no interest in cleaning our room for the 3 night duration that we stayed. The first night we went for dinner they put us way down in the back room where they serve breakfast, there was zero atmosphere there and i asked could we be moved to the bar area when we finished dinner and we were told no.I asked when we finished dinner and still within time could we get drinks from the lobby or smoking area and the waitress said some might serve you and some wont.Anyway our night was over at 8pm because we couldn't get a drink then as we were not going the stay down in what I would describe as a depressing looking bingo hall. Breakfast was the biggest fiasco, there are 2 Q's 1 for hot food and 1 for toast and drinks etc.The Q was long and the staff were slow, after waiting ages for breakfast we then had to Q again for drinks and toast etc.We were seated right by the Q for breakfast so people were on top of us with no social distancing. The bar staff were extremely rude with people I actually seen the older guy behind the bar wave his finger at a customer saying no more your time is up. The young lad behind the bar was a cocky arrogant mouth piece telling a customer the bar was closed but was still serving others. I was constantly waiting for a pint I had my hand up like a school kid waving and when I got no service i walked to the bar and was abruptly shouted at saying NO BAR SERVICE which was funny because there were 2 men sitting and drinking at the end of the Bar (obviously locals). The hand sanitizer outside the gents toilets in the Lobby didn't work, I told a staff member several times and still the issue was not addressed but yet the staff were quick to let customers know their time was up in the bar and quoted regulations so some double standards there. We went to court town with the kids and decided to go back to the hotel for some food at 5pm.We were booked for dinner at 7.30pm and the female supervisor pointed that out. I told her that we were just grabbing some food and might get something light to eat later, even though the bar was empty she refused us a table as she thought we were trying to game the system ie stay for hours drinking pints. So she only allowed me and my wife in not my kids or my sister and wheelchair bound mother. Out at the smoking area there was very poor lighting and the staff never cleared any of the glasses that were on the ground for hours, I had to stop a woman from tripping over them and with very poor lighting it was a death trap. Speaking with other Hotel guests the conversation seemed to me the same that the bar staff were extremely rude and the hotel staff didn't seem too bothered about accommodating anyone's needs. Overall it was an extremely bad experience and I am sorry I wasted so much money in the place. When you spend 190 euro the day previous on your family dinner and are refused entry the following day to an empty bar then it shows the level of respect the Hotel staff have for people. In this day and age of Lock downs and Staycations I thought this Hotel stay would have been a good experience but for me and my family it was 3 nights wasted. I have told everyone I know and work with to avoid this place like the Plague...Better off giving your hard earned money to a Hotel that has some respect for its paying customers!...

Myself, My Wife and our 5-year-old son stayed in the Arklow Bay last Weekend for the bank Holiday, Sunday 30th of April 2023 for 1 Night (Thank God!) The hotel was recommended to us and to say we were very disappointed with our experience staying here is an understatement. When we entered our room it was like entering a time machine, the room was dated and the only thing modern in it was the TV which didn’t work, this usually wouldn’t be a problem but when travelling with our son it is necessary. The room was Nothing like the pictures shown on the website and nothing like the description on the website stating, “91 Tastefully decorated bedrooms”. When getting ready in the evening my wife noticed the hair dryer did not work and after calling the reception to see about getting a hair dryer that worked, I also raised the issue with the TV, that although it was on and there was picture there was no sound, we were told a new hairdryer would be dropped up in 20 minutes. 40 minutes passed and there was still no sign of the hairdryer so I went to reception only to be told by the woman working there that they couldn’t find one and there was nothing they could do. My wife had to leave her hair damp for the evening. We decided to try get on with the evening and had a reservation in the hotel for dinner. We waited approximately 30 minutes just to order and then the wait for the food was even longer. My wife ended up in bed for two days when we got home with what the doctor said was food poisoning . Before bed we went to the reception and spoke to the night receptionist who told us he went to look at the TV but he couldn’t do anything about it, same response as before. With all the issues we had during our stay none of them were rectified and there was little effort or care shown to do so. The next day my wife had to use the pool facilities to shower just so she could use their hairdryers over there. Upon checking out we spoke to the manager regarding our negative experience and although he did offer us an apology, when we mentioned the situation with the hairdryer he was baffled and informed us he wasn’t aware of that, and that he would have been able to find one somewhere. There must have been no communication regarding our issues, either that or there was little care. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. What we received for the rate we paid was not acceptable at all. They also state on the website “We pride ourselves on our standards of service and customer care” this certainly was not evident to...

We paid €285 for one night family room which included 3 course meal for 2 adults and 2 children.|On arrival, the car park was very crowded and an inconsiderate guest parked in the turnaround bay of what is effectively a single lane road. I stopped them and said I couldn't turn around, but they insisted I reverse all the way back to a turning point.||Check-in was at 3pm, reception was busy but eventually we checked in.|The family room ( Room 427) was a reasonable size with a double and 2 singles.|However it was right beside the main lift and we heard every single lift journey as the mechanicals/electrics were just behind one of our walls. You could heard it practically every minute or two up to midnight, but basically continuing until I think we fell asleep around 2am.||The smallish TV was turned off at the plug and when I'm not sure when I turned it around on the stand whether I caused the loose co-axial aerial plug to fall out. Either way it's lucky I'm technical and resolved those issues but still a LOT of standard free channels in Ireland were not tuned in to the TV. BBC, ITV etc... |It was a cheap Normende TV and while there was a "Netflix" button on the remote control it was locked out or not supported. We would've logged in with our own account to view it.||There's no air conditioning or even heating controls, so the two poor methods of controlling your climate is the window and a small electric fan which will never service 3 beds. The sink had a crack in it, the toilet seemed to struggle to flush even simple toilet paper. There was no safe. Although I will give them that there was plugs at the side of each bed to charge phones.||The swimming pool was nice enough for the family, if a fraction colder than people would like. The swimming pool lockers were in poor condition and you had to find a locker than actually locked to secure your clothes in.||The food in the Pottery restaurant plus the service was very good.|Normally it's around ~€40 per adult for a 3 course meal. I think we paid €185 for the room and €100 in addition for a deal for 3 course meal for 2 adults and 2 children.|Food was great, service was great, but it also wasn't cheap when you consider an extra €15 for steak.||Bottom line: Food was great,...
