Doneraila Park is rightly very popular with locals while generally being overlooked or unknown to tourists. The walk stretches from below the tennis court on Gallwey's Hill to just above Tramore pier, passing through Doneraila Park. The best view of Tramore Bay is from here and one can see from the beach out to the Newtown and Guillamene swimming cove, including Tramore Pier. The park includes the old Coast Guard Helicopter landing site, one of the cannons pulled from a wreck in the bay, and the Memorial Stone for the Seahorse, wrecked in Tramore Bay in 1816 with the loss of almost 300 lives. Hot drinks and snacks at the old coastguard station (now a gallery, cultural centre and cafe). You can extend the walk by continuing on towards the pier which is down a long flight of steps, and for a longer walk again up the steps on the other side and follow the roadside footpath to Newtown cove.
