One the Waterfront Restaurant — Restaurant in Waterford City Metropolitan District

I’ve been to the waterfront about 3 or 4 times and the view is definitely the best thing about this place, it’s probably the only reason I went back each time because the service was never great. I visited the waterfront yesterday (Monday) with my mam, dad, sister and grandmother and we didn’t have a great experience at all. When we arrived we waited to be seated as we thought that would be the procedure with COVID and all that. At least 3 staff members saw us standing there but didn’t come over or acknowledge us at all. We had to call someone over and ask if we were to be seated and we were just pointed to the door and told to go find a table outside. No greeting or anything. When we found a table it was filthy and full of crumbs. We sat down anyway waiting for someone to come over to clean it and to give us menus or any info at all really but no one came. We had to call someone over and ask if we could get some menus and we were told that lunch wasn’t until 12:30 and they had stopped serving breakfast. It was 11:45 so for 45 mins they weren’t serving any food. The staff member apologised and walked off but didn’t suggest getting coffees/teas etc and the table wasn’t cleaned either. We decided to stay and just get a coffee because the weather was so nice but we waited 15 mins and no one came back to assist us or clean the table so we just got up and left. It really ruined our morning especially after bringing our grandmother along who was really looking forward to going to the waterfront for the first time after hearing all about the lovely view. We booked our small wedding reception and dinner in One the Waterfront and couldn’t have been happier with the service, food, atmosphere, view and location. Maurice was an excellent help the whole way through the process. There wasn’t an ask he couldn’t facilitate for us. He tailor made our menu with us and all the guests could talk about was the food. We had canapés for the reception, sea food platters for starters and sea bass, chicken, or spicy past arrabbiata for mains. Many guests said it was the best food they ever had at a wedding. All plates were polished. Maurice also suggested offering guests an espresso martini after dinner which was a lovely touch. My photographer and videographer were also delighted with the venue as there were so many gorgeous photo opportunities (added some photos for proof). Many people text me asking if we had our wedding in Greece or Italy. The view of the sea was stunning. We were lucky with the weather but even if we weren’t, it would be been beautiful. We were so happy with the service in the lead up that we decided to book One the Waterfront the day 2. We had approx 90 guests. There is a traditional pub downstairs with a separate patio. We had delicious bbq food and danced to the trad band in the sun. We are so grateful we booked our wedding here and I would highly recommend it for any occasion. Stayed here for a nights B&B. The following morning my wife and three year old son went for breakfast in the restaurant. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly by a female member of staff. An older tall man with glasses took our order for breakfast. After 20 mins he returned to our table and asked to take our order again as he had forgotten it. After another 45mins and being ignored multiple times by this man that took our order we waved another waitress down to take our order and we were served after 10 mins. Our three year old son ordered waffles but brownies were brought to the table on two occasions before we were told no waffles were available. At this stage we took out three year old son to a different restaurant in town as he had become distressed being hungry and due to the long waiting time. Other guests that came to the restaurant after us were served and had left the restaurant by the time we were finally served. We explained to some of the friendly younger female staff members that were very good to our son about how were were treated so badly especially by the older man but they informed us he was a supervisor and that they would inform management about his poor behaviour.
