If the GAS bar is on your right, keep going straight over the bridge/overpass. Entrance to the stairs are on the right through a black gate. At the top is a little hut. The days we came, no one was in the hut. But if a woman is there trying to make you pay, don’t! Take 461 stairs to get down to the beach. We came to I Due Scugnizzi. Hours were 930am - 830pm. 10 euro per person for a chair with umbrella at 130/2pm. (Was told that it would be 15 euro if you came in the AM). Towels are available for an additional 5 euro if needed. Bar, food/snacks, and bathrooms available. The white wine with peaches was our favorite! A boat ferry is available every 1/2 hour to take you to the Amalfi port for 4 euro per person. (Last ferry is at 5pm). We took the ferry to the port and then the bus back to our villa to avoid taking the stairs back up. Our host always says “only go down, never go up.” The beach is all smooth pebbles and easy to walk on, but you may want water shoes or sandles that can go into the water. Water is clear all the way to the bottom and very refreshing. Overall great experience here. There are many other umbrella areas with restaurants and there is a small free area, but definitely bring your own towel to sit...

Boats frequent the coast and rarely will come directly onto the beach to the east or on the pier to the west. The water is choppy and the waves are frequent. However it is shallow up to 20 ft for younger children. We anticipated snorkeling may be better but you have to go more west into the rocky shoals to see more fish.
Pro tip: Parking is hard to find. The boat option from Amalfi for $2 euro pp is one possibility or there is a parking lot west of the beach steps (

There are three private areas and a very small public beach. The private areas are owned by a hotel and the two restaurants on the beach. The hotel area is for their guests only. You can access the beach via boat from Amalfi (4 euros per person) or walking down 460 steps from the road. The entrance is up the road from hotel Ninfa.
One of the restaurants, Lido Degli Artisti, has an attendant at the top of the steps who tells people that they have to pay 30 euros per person for a sunlounger to use the steps down to the beach. This isn’t true as the other restaurant, I Due Scugnizzi, charges half that (30 euros for 2 loungers and a parasol) and there is also the public section. I Due Scugnizzi is good for lunch - the food is simple but nice for a beach shack and the prices are reasonable.
Other than this, the pebbled beach is nice, the water is crystal clear, though there are too many boats around, same as everywhere else...
