Santa Croce Restaurant e Beach Club Amalfi — Restaurant in Amalfi

I cannot really recommend this place and believe it to be a tourist trap. We were on a boat tour around the amalfi coast and our guide told us to go to this restaurant as it was cheaper than the ones in Positano we were looking at. That is patently false and I believe he gets a kickback from the restaurant. To begin with, you arrive via boat and anchor your boat and take a dingy to the restaurant, this is fine. You will notice another restaurant on the same beach right across the way but all the boat captains seem to go here… (are they compensated to go here and not the other place?) We sat down quickly and ordered two caprese salads for appetizers. Our order was definitely forgotten because 3 tables that arrived after us got their actual food before we got our appetizer. When it did arrive, it was very sad. The tomatoes were almost translucent and not red at all. Very bad for salads that cost 15 euro each. The mozzarella was tasty. They had fresh fish/catch of the day in a refrigerated tank and I picked out a fish over 12 inches long to share with my dining partner. It was to be served with pasta. When it finally came out, there were small bits of fish in it. Where did the rest of the fish go? There were no fillets and certainly not enough meat on both plates for an entire fish. Not to mention there were bones in the pasta so the fish was not filleted properly. We ordered the peach wine which was good and 8 euro for a half liter and water was reasonably priced at 2.5 euro per bottle. The view was beautiful. However, the bill is my biggest issue. We were charged 30 euro for each plate of pasta. Take a look at the picture, is this 30 worth of food to you? It was all just very strange. I understand Amalfi coast is touristy and prices are high but 102 euro for 2 caprese and 2 pasta seems incredibly high. I personally would not recommend this place and would try the restaurant across the way to see if it had better service and prices (same view). Restaurant Santa Croce was AMAZING - including the staff, food, and location. We contacted the restaurant 48 hours before hosting a post-wedding event for 30 people in September 2024 and they jumped into action. (The location we originally booked never confirmed and we had to scramble!) You would never know they organized last minute. The short boat ride from the main dock in Amalfi was coordinated for us and easy. The staff were welcoming – including drinks as we got off the boats and snack baskets on the beach. After we swam and relaxed, the staff (with nonna!) prepared a delicious lunch with fresh ingredients including local specialities that included vegetables, fish, meat, pasta, dessert, and drinks. Recentemente, ho avuto il piacere di pranzare presso il ristorante Santa Croce, situato nella splendida cornice della costiera amalfitana. L'esperienza culinaria è stata eccellente, con piatti che hanno superato ogni aspettativa.

Eravamo in tre e abbiamo gustato: Linguine con gli scampi: un piatto equilibrato e saporito, con ingredienti freschissimi. Spaghetti con vongole: preparati alla perfezione, con vongole succulente e un condimento delizioso. Scialatielli con frutti di mare: un'esplosione di sapori, che ha saputo esaltare la qualità del pesce locale.

Abbiamo accompagnato il nostro pasto con un ottimo vino bianco con percoche, che ha aggiunto una nota fruttata al nostro pranzo. Infine, tre caffè hanno concluso in bellezza la nostra esperienza gastronomica. Il tutto per un totale di €95,00, un prezzo ragionevole considerando la qualità del cibo e l'incantevole location.

Per raggiungere la spiaggia, abbiamo preso una barchetta da Amalfi, un'esperienza piacevole e pittoresca che ha contribuito a rendere la nostra giornata ancora più speciale. Il personale della spiaggia si è dimostrato gentile e disponibile, fornendo un servizio impeccabile.

Tuttavia, l'unica nota negativa della giornata è stata l'atteggiamento scostumato di un dipendente del bar, che ha stonato rispetto all'alta qualità del servizio ricevuto altrove. Nonostante ciò, la bellezza del luogo e la prelibatezza dei piatti hanno saputo compensare questo piccolo inconveniente.
