Indifference and greenwashing

This is no way to treat people. I went to the My Chemical Romance concert on the 4th of June, and the organisers have no idea what they’re doing. We went to sit in the queue at 10am and as soon as we arrived, our water was confiscated. I’ve never heard of such a thing.

Been queuing for concerts and festivals for almost two decades now, and I have never experienced such incompetence, as I did this day. Of course we knew we wouldn’t be allowed to bring our water past the queue, but confiscating it along with food before the queue in 30 degrees?! We were lucky our sunscreens weren’t confiscated as well, as I’ve read happened to a lot of other people (SERIOUSLY?!?!)

After several hours they decided to start handing out water bottles, but that wasn’t until several people had fainted and people started screaming at them. As neither my girlfriend or I speak Italian (not that I expected them to speak English), we were lucky enough to get stuff translated by someone we met when we arrived and apparently they asked us to share the water bottles as if COVID-19 wasn’t a thing.

Later we found out this supposedly was a plastic free event (?!), and that was one of the reasons they confiscated our water. Can’t imagine how much plastic was wasted from both the confiscated bottles and the bottles they ended up passing out. This is greenwashing at it’s finest.

When we finally got into the venue, they only had food in one side instead of spreading it out a bit, making it easier for people to get to. The food was decent and just a bit cheaper than what I’m used to paying at festivals and concerts in Denmark.

They had three bars (one at the food area, one in the pit and one next to the stage outside the pit). This is fine, but your only choices were Coca Cola, Coca Cola Zero, red bull, water, iced tea (I think?) and Heineken.

Oh, and this pit system is fine with an entrance /exit in both sides of the pit, but instead of allowing people to go out and in, in both sides, they kept switching which way was exit and which was entrance.

And lastly, the stage was incredibly low for a crowd of 40000 and they have no screens for people at the back.

Grandissima mancanza di serietà nella gestione degli eventi. Organizzazione e gestione della sicurezza e del pubblico al limite del ridicolo.

Questa recensione sarà strutturata in punti, e farà riferimento all’evento degli Iron Maiden del 7 Luglio 2022 gestito da Vertigo e Bologna Sonic Park.

ASSISTENZA E CONTATTI

Ho provato a contattare gli organizzatori per chiedere informazioni sull’evento e sulla sicurezza sia tramite mail che tramite Facebook, senza ricevere alcuna risposta. Il messaggio su Facebook è stato visualizzato, ma del tutto ignorato. Già questo denota una particolare attenzione verso il consumatore.

SITUAZIONE AL CANCELLO DI INGRESSO

All’evento degli Iron Maiden ci siamo accalcati sin dalle 9-10 di mattina davanti al cancello principale del parco.

Non c’è stato il minimo controllo da parte degli addetti alla sicurezza, il ché ha permesso a venditori ambulanti di farsi strada tra di noi (a spintoni) con carretti con bibite a prezzi disumani. Ovviamente senza alcuna licenza per la vendita.

Bagni fuori? Un optional. L’addetto della sicurezza a cui ho chiesto mi ha detto che avrei potuto urinare dove preferivo, visto che i primi bagni chimici erano all’interno del parco.

Nel momento in cui hanno aperto il cancello, per farci entrare a scaglioni, la situazione è peggiorata: persone tutte accalcate che spingevano per provare ad entrare, senza che la sicurezza intervenisse in alcun modo.

CONTROLLI ALL’ENTRATA DELL’ARENA

All’entrata dell’arena ci sono stati controlli totalmente privi di senso: metal detectors, usati “a campione”, e ritiro delle temibili bottigliette d’acqua (con 35 gradi A LUGLIO) perché ritenute pericolose. Spoiler: all’interno c’era la ghiaia, e credo che i sassi facciamo decisamente più male di una bottiglietta d’acqua lanciata

VENDITA CIBO E BIBITE

Dopo ore ed ore sotto al sole, e dopo il ritiro delle bottigliette d’acqua all’ingresso, è del tutto lecito essere affamati ed assetati. A Bologna Sonic Park non è un problema, perché vi sono paninari e bar per tutti. Una birra? 7€ + 2€ di bicchiere, con qualità inferiore alla birra da 50 cent di un discount.

PROFESSIONALITÀ DELLA SICUREZZA NELL’ARENA

La sicurezza ha pensato gentilmente di rinfrescarci dopo ore ed ore sotto al sole lavandoci con gli idranti. Cosa abbastanza piacevole, se non fosse per il fatto che gli addetti si divertissero a spruzzare l’acqua direttamente in faccia (è successo più volte, non si tratta di un caso). Un addetto ha addirittura infilato la lancia dentro la maglietta di una ragazza in prima fila per farle un dispetto. Anche qui, grande professionalità.

GESTIONE DELLE “EMERGENZE”

Come penso che molti di voi sapranno, il concerto degli Iron Maiden è stato annullato (in maniera del tutto discutibile) pochi minuti prima che loro salissero sul palco per un “emergenza meteo improvvisa” al fine di salvaguardare la sicurezza degli spettatori.

L’emergenza era prevedibile? Assolutamente si. Se sono in grado di visualizzare il meteo dal mio smartphone, immagino che la protezione civile abbia strumenti superiori e che, soprattutto, abbia le conoscenze per interpretare correttamente i dati. Avrebbero potuto rimuovere uno dei due gruppi spalla, o anticipare il concerto di un’oretta semmai.

Com’è stata gestita l’ evacuazione? Questa procedura è stata gestita in maniera del tutto inefficace, perlomeno nella zona del “pit” (ovvero il palco). Infatti, la sicurezza non è stata in grado di farci uscire tutti e le persone che erano in fondo hanno successivamente deciso di conquistare le prime file del palco (mentre chi era arrivato prima era stato cacciato fuori).

Gli addetti alla sicurezza mi hanno dato una pessima impressione per la gestione di una situazione per la quale sono stati sicuramente formati. Infatti, c’erano addetti che rincorrevano le persone per farle uscire, altri che erano immobili a guardare, ed altri ancora che borbottavano “allora fate quello che volete”. Male.

ARENA A DIR POCO...

Nice place for a concert. Horribly organised. They took our water before we were inside the venue and could actually buy more and people started to faint because of the heat so they started passing us small water bottles but they clearly weren't enough for everyone so more people started feeling sick. I don't think I've ever seen so many people faint at a concert. Most of the security staff was also really rude with us even when were asking them for help to avoid getting other people sick or hurt. EDIT: I got covid after this concert. Now, obviously, going to a concert is going to increase my risk of getting covid BUT I'm sure that having to drink from the same bottle that ten people have used before me doesn't help... (which only happened because they took our water and when they gave us their water there wasn't enough to give one to each person or even one for each group of friends) and I had to drink from those bottles multiple times cause we waited...
