Update May 2018: We've visited the Caneva Aquapark also in the last years since the first review. This time the weather was hotter and so also the water temperature was nice. The staff was again nice, but this time we've prepared lunch to compensate the entry fee of around 92 Euro for the whole family. What I really didn't like this time was the new Trisplash slide. When you slide down, you notice the partial splash walls. It looks like it is still work in progress and the only thing I could think of when going down was, not to get in touch with the razor sharp walls ... especially when the slide is setup in a way that you get shaken towards those walls ... In the unlikely case, that a park manager reads those reviews, you might consider to setup splash walls all alongside that slide!
Original review: We were there in June 2014 (low season on a friday) with 2 kids (3 and 6 years). I have a mixed impression about the ressort: the day tickets of 25 Euro for an adult are compareable to other attractions of this kind and children above 1m cost 19 Euros and below 1m are free. we started to look for a place to leave our stuff and found plenty of nice resting spots - if you look closer, the sandy areas miss a bit of a care, like raking away the fir needles. Next we tried the baby lagoon: the big minus, the water is too cold, even after a very hot day. And although my younger son managed to crawl the nets to the water slide, he didn't want to slide down ... as a parent you would then need to climb up somehow and get your child down. After the cold water, I didn't like to enjoy the rest of the other cold areas - like the cold whirlpool - and waited for the sun to heat up the water. The meals are good and we had expected those prices of around 8-9 Euros per meal (main/side dish + drink + free dessert). Although you'll run around bare foot most of the time, you probably want to wear footwear when you go to the restrooms ... I didn't and I regret it, as the restrooms above the frozen bob were a bit shady. The best attraction in the park (in my point of view) is the Crazy River. All slides are well watched and the staff is nice. Beside the baby lagoon, the black hole left a bad impression to me - part of the slide is guided by rails and this is something I simply don't want my feets to get in touch when I slide down fast. So all-in-all I give 3 stars and I might come again, when my children are old/high enough for the other...
Read moreAs it is peak season in August, I was prepared for some extra queuing for rides. If you are prepared to queue for around 30 minutes for some of the more popular rides, then this aspect will not be an issue for you.
Food is good and relatively cheap for theme park food. I would recommend the chicken tacos but the poké bowls looked good and seemed to be quite popular. There are plenty of options for where to buy lunch and places in the shade to eat it. As a Brit who cannot handle the heat well, I appreciate it.
The biggest issue with my visit today was my experience on the "twin peaks" ride. You have to wait in a queue to get your inflatable and then walk to the attraction. This is fine, however around 7/10 of the inflatables had deflated, leaving us with 3 inflatables to be used by all of the guests, which greatly slowed down the queue. After over an hour in the queue, we climbed to the top of the stairs, where the burning hot metal scalded our feet. This is concerning as most people on the rides do not wear shoes, as is common for most waterparks. My dad, who on my inflatable with me, sustained a lower back injury on the slide as well, which has left him with bad bruising.
People cutting queues is very common, and the lifeguards stationed around the queues do not attempt to intervene. The staff around the ride queues seem to just be there to make sure people don't try to climb back up the slide, and it is easy to forget that they are even there. I saw one lifeguard (at the exit of the lazy river ride, where the next riders can collect their inflatables) ignore a child who visibly did not meet the height requirement and let them go through, which I found concerning.
Rides: 3/5 once you get on them, plenty of variety but a bit outdated and a few, such as the "twin peaks" ride are quite dangerous.
Food: 5/5 expected for theme park food
Staff: 2/5 lifeguards for the wave pool were doing a great job, as were the life guards on the crazy river who were keeping the crowd moving. Other staff were practically non-existent unless you were on a ride that requires extra assistance.
Pools: 4/5 very fun, well manned and quite busy. Some of the jets in the plunge pools don't work and, as there are ant colonies nearby, sometimes there are bugs...
Read moreCar parking- €5 a day. Plenty of parking lot. Signage- something I think is missing. I couldn't find the way from the car park to the Aquapark entrance easily. Both parks share the same entrance actually. Walk through the tunnel next to the car park entrance for the park entrance. Tickets- ticketing office is at the entrance of the parks. I got my tickets online which saves €2 each. I print my tickets beforehand. Storage area- they have like 300 digitally run lockers available right after you entered the park. Size is about 35x35x35 cm each. €5 each with unlimited reopening times. No keys or padlocks needed. Changing area- there are about 20 changing rooms for sharing between men and women beside the locker area. Shower area- an open shower area next to the locker area. Bring your own shampoo, shower gel and towel. No towels available. You may buy one from the souvenir shop in the park though. Slides- not a very big aquapark. Most of the rides are safe and well guarded. Only a few like the Twin Peak need loads of courage. No sunglasses, flip flops, waterproof cash pockets allowed during the rides. Water and tools are mostly clean but could be improved. Lounges- plenty of lounge chairs available not only near Shark Bay or the swimming pool. Felt a bit packed actually. You can even make use of the sand/grass areas when all lounge chairs are occupied. Bring your own mat. There's a gazebo area which you can rent at a price with a covered private area. Shops- food stalls selling hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza, kebab, ice cream etc. Park quality. You can bring your own food. There's a...
