Being a car fanatic and having been to the Porsche and Mercedes Museums in Stuttgart Germany, plus many more, visiting the Modena one sadly left me a bit underwhelmed. I’m a massive Ferrari fan and was a bit disappointed for Enzo in terms of the amount of cars of display. I can understand it’s probably an issue of space but there was literally only 21-24 cars on display in two buildings in total.
There was a large video projected of the history of Enzo, starting every 20mins or so, which was pretty cool, but there were no seats inside the museum, meant we had to sit on the floor to watch the video. We were the first to sit on the ground in front of the a Ferrari GTO, and many others around us followed suit. I have to add our feet and legs have been pretty tired from walking around heaps of museums in Florence, but I couldn’t really recommend this place for someone elderly if your legs are a bit sore.
A tip, I bought tickets off GetYourGuide thinking I could skip the line because of prepaid tickets, I wasn’t aware that I still had to line for around 10+ mins up to pick them up not Ferrari’s fault as I bought my tickets through an agency. I probably could of just bought them on the day and waited the same amount of time.
One thing I couldn’t wrap my head around was the shuttle bus service from Enzo to the Ferrari Maranello Museum 21km away, only runs twice a day, 10:45pm and 15:45pm! I really wanted to see both museums and would of been happy to pay extra no worries, but I think Ferrari really missed out on this. We explored options to visit Maranello that afternoon but the regional bus takes 1.5hr and most Italians taxis’s were in strike at the time, so no reliability there.
Modena isn’t the easiest place to get to, the train to Modena is fine but as we travelled from Florence to Bologna then Modena via train to get there, costs us AUD$204 return for two people, so it wasn’t the cheapest experience. (Bologna to Florence was an express but still toke us 3 hours one way). Walking from the Modena train station to Enzo was around 600m or 15-20mins walk. Again not the museums fault but just keep that in mind when travelling here.
Staff at Enzo were friendly and accommodated us nicely. There was a small cafe and gift shop at the centre, the simulator was a joke however, €20 for 7 mins and it wasn’t even a modern high tech type. I just think Enzo would be rolling in his grave thinking about this centre as they could improve so much more. Could the Ferrari Maranello Museum save the day? I’m not sure, I’ll just have to travel from Australia...

Very closer to the city center of Modena is located the Enzo Ferrari Museum. The museum dedicated to the founder of Ferrari brand.
Museum adopted Covid-19 safety measurement. At your arrival They require to change your mask and to sanitising your hands. I suggest to make your reservation in advance buying the ticket online on their official website because to regulate the influx of visitors they organize slot of 15' for small groups. Ticket office provide you the possibility to buy the ticket for a single museum or for both Ferrari museum (Modena+ Maranello) to fully enjoy the experience.
Enzo Ferrari is a Small but nice museum. The visit will take around 30/40 minutes. Inside Exposing different model of cars some of them very iconic, lots of enjine models and a little movie of Enzo's life story.
One of the most appreciated experience was the car simulator!! For the most passionate, there are 2 cars simulator and you can drive a Ferrari race car feeling the same sensation of an official driver of Ferrari scuderia. The Handlebar can be set with different levels of difficulties from level 1 that is easy but fully controlled up to level 4 which is totally free with fully control of the car in your hands. There are big screen in front of you and throw an iPad you can set your favourite track. This is not included in the price of the ticket and duration is 7 minutes but I very suggested!
Near the entrance there is a Private...
Read moreSurely nice to visit the museum if you are around the area. The shown cars are impressive, and there is a small building describing the story of Enzo Ferrari and showing some of the innovative engines.
However, the price of 22€ is way too high for various reasons: The museum is really small, you can complete it reading all car descriptions in maximum 1 hour. The side building takes another 30 minutes. I am not sure whether "museum" correctly describes the building complex. The main building features the cars with short descriptions. There is a video room that basically shows one video that is more of advertisment than of explanatory value. The side building features some kind of historical explanations about the life of Enzo Ferrari, but certainly it is not comparable to other museums. Maybe combining it with Maranello for 30€ is worth it, however you have to consider that the shuttle bus costs additional 12€. I noticed that also the store has extremely high prices. While Ferrari is a luxury brand, I find it awful to totally overprice the merchandise to gain on it. We know that a lot of young children, in particular boys, really love sports cars and Ferrari. "Ripping off" the parents who want to gift their children was perceived negatively by me.
I would recommend to visit Enzo Ferrari Museum only if you are a really passionate fan and probably combine it with a stay at Maranello. Otherwise, think twice because maybe it will not match your...
